87th Belpre Area Chamber dinner to be held Oct. 23

BELPRE — The 87th annual dinner of the Belpre Area Chamber of Commerce on Oct. 23 will focus on the impact of artificial intelligence on businesses and lives.

The dinner, with the theme “Back to the Future: Remembering the Past, Embracing the Future,” begins with social time from 5:30 to 6 p.m. at Grand Pointe Conference and Reception Center, 1500 Grand Central Ave., Vienna. “Back to the Future,” released 40 years ago, will be the framework of the dinner.

The meal starts at 6:15 p.m.

The featured speaker will be Olivia Reeder, vice president of advancement at West Virginia University at Parkersburg and president and CEO of the WVUP Foundation.

She leads initiatives bridging the gap between higher education and K-12 students and strengthening philanthropy and community partnerships.

Reeder spearheads projects such as a middle school recruitment program, a hands-on marketing lab and community efforts to inspire young learners to explore diverse pathways to success.

Reeder is a third-generation graduate of WVUP, a member of the West Virginia Wonder Women Class of 2024 and part of the West Virginia State Journal’s 40 Under 40 Class of 2025.

She volunteers for local organizations and promotes arts and cultural understanding in the Mid-Ohio Valley.

The dinner, which includes the presentation of awards, and celebration is the culmination of the year and focuses on chamber and member accomplishments, said Tammy Belcher, president and CEO at 1st Mutual Bank and president of the chamber Board of Directors.

“The annual dinner brings together leaders in our community showing the progress we have made over the last 40 years,” she said.

“We will highlight great things in business and community while continuing to spotlight innovation and growth,” she said.

The master of ceremonies will be Ben Bradley of Sow-N-Sew and Sun LLC.

Program features include a video at the 5:30 p.m. social hour spotlighting Platinum and Platinum Plus sponsors and other supporters.

Stand-out businesses, individuals and organizations will be spotlighted in the awards presentation, including Belpre Citizen of the Year, Small Business of the Year, Business of the Year, Spirit of the Chamber, Spirit of the Community and Employee of the Year.

Appetizers at the social time are sponsored by the Belpre UPS Store and “Back to the Future” decor will be sponsored by Cawley Hospice.

Additional sponsors, board members and dignitaries will be spotlighted throughout the evening.

The chamber Business Marketing Funding winner also will be announced.
