History in the making: Ohio River Museum construction underway
Pillars that will hold the new Ohio River Museum begin to rise at the construction site along Front Street. Phase one of construction of the museum is currently underway and is scheduled to be completed in 18 months. Phase two of construction will focus on landscaping and final touches to the museum. Estimated completion of the Ohio River Museum is expected to be in 2027. The site has been closed since 2022 with demolition of the structure taking place earlier this year. The completed museum will feature a total of 29,000 square feet with lower and outdoor decks and exhibits from the museums that were demolished earlier this year. The Ohio River Museum was established in 1941 in the basement of the Campus Martius Museum which was constructed in 1957. (Photo by Art Smith)
