NEW MATAMORAS — The Boys & Girls Clubs of Washington County has announced the reopening of its Club site in New Matamoras, expanding access to safe, high-quality out-of-school programming for children and families in the community.
Boys & Girls Club of New Matamoras is scheduled to open in January 2026, and registration is now live at www.bgcwcoh.org.
Boys & Girls Club of New Matamoras will provide local youth with a safe and supportive environment during out-of-school hours, offering academic support, enrichment activities, character development, and healthy recreation, according to a press release announcing the opening.
The opening reflects a renewed commitment to serving rural communities with programs designed to meet local needs and support long-term sustainability, the release said.
“This community has already shown how much this Club matters, and we would be doing a disservice to pretend that the closure of our programming over the past year didn’t happen,” said Justin Clark, Chief Executive Officer of Boys & Girls Clubs of Washington County. “The previous closure taught us important lessons about sustainability, partnership, and listening more closely to local needs. We are reopening with a stronger plan, clearer commitments, and renewed confidence that this Club can thrive for the long term.”
Clark emphasized that the organization approached the reopening with intention and collaboration.
“This reopening reflects both humility and hope. We recognize that sustaining a Club in a rural community takes thoughtful planning and strong local partnerships. Because of what we’ve learned, we’re reopening with a model that’s better aligned with the needs of families here and built to endure.”
Boys & Girls Club of New Matamoras will be led by Kalyn Tyler, Unit Director, who brings a background in child development and a strong connection to the community. Under her leadership, the Club will focus on creating a fun, structured, and welcoming environment where youth feel safe, valued, and supported.
Families are encouraged to register now and engage with the Club as it prepares to reopen and begin serving local youth. Community partnerships will play a key role in ensuring the Club’s success and long-term impact.
The reopening of programming in New Matamoras marks an important milestone for Boys & Girls Clubs of Washington County as the organization continues to expand access to opportunity for youth across the region, the release said.
