Civins appointed to Marietta College Board of Trustees

A new member of the Marietta College Board of Trustees was named on Monday

The college announced the appointment of Class of 1971 alumnus Arnold “Arnie” Civins effective on Jan. 1. Civins brings decades of professional experience and a long-standing commitment to Marietta’s mission.

“Marietta College was always very generous to me in both tangible and intangible ways,” said Civins. “I feel it is important to give back to the College which afforded me so many opportunities.”

Civins joins the board while it continues shaping strategic initiatives, advancing institutional priorities and supporting student success. Civins has more than 50 years of expertise in complex federal, state and local tax systems and will provide valuable insight into financial strategy and governance.

His guidance will help ensure Marietta remains a place where students thrive academically and professionally and are prepared for meaningful lives and careers, the college said.

“It is a pleasure to welcome Arnie Civins to the Board of Trustees. Arnie’s love for the College, support over the years, and his professional background make him an ideal addition to the Board,” Jim Wilson, class of 1969, chairman of the board, said. “We look forward to Arnie participating in all the governance and leadership aspects of Board service; it will be a pleasure serving with him.”

Civins graduated cum laude from Marietta College in 1971 with a bachelor’s of arts in business and economics. He also earned a master’s of business administration with a concentration in accounting from Rutgers University.

At Marietta, Civins was elected to Tau Pi Phi, the business and economics honor society, and Phi Beta Kappa, the oldest national academic honor society in the United States, through Marietta College Gamma of Ohio chapter.

Civins is one of six original partners of Citrin Cooperman Advisors, a national tax and advisory accounting firm.

Civins was a tax partner with expertise in wealth preservation and estate, gift and fiduciary tax matters. His work has spanned tax planning, income tax examinations and state and local tax matters and advising nonprofit organizations on formation, governance and compliance.

He has demonstrated a commitment to service through volunteer and board leadership roles with organizations including Naked Angels Theater Company, Project ALS and the Jewish Federation of Central New Jersey, among others. Civins is affiliated with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the New York State and New Jersey Societies of CPAs and the Small Business Council of America.

As a trustee, Civins will work with board members to advance Marietta College’s long-term strategic vision, helping guide the College’s growth and ensuring students have the support and resources needed to excel in and beyond the classroom. The appointment comes as Marietta moves forward with key initiatives to invest in the future, including the launch of the Center for Appalachian Innovation and the Milone Center for Academic and Career Success, expansion of academic programs, as well as ongoing upgrades to athletic fields and campus facilities.

Starting at $2.99/week.
