PARKERSBURG — The 12th annual Smoot Spring Sing will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Smoot Theatre on Fifth Street in downtown Parkersburg.

The show is sponsored by the Smoot Theatre Children’s Chorus and is for young area singers who’ve received invitations from their music teacher or from a current chorus member.

Area music teachers were asked by the chorus staff to select their school’s best singers and give them the opportunity to sing on the Smoot stage with this children’s vocal ensemble.

The 41 invited guest singers will join the Children’s Chorus members for a day of musical activities, learning vocal techniques and new songs, which they will then perform at 4 p.m. in a free concert open to the public.

Also participating in the day’s activities and concert will be the Smoot Theatre Boys Ensemble, the Fifth Street Boys and the Smoot Theatre Girls Ensemble.

The ensembles are under the direction of Barbara Full, Marsha Parsons, Janet Blessing, Cathy Martin and Felice Jorgeson.

Auditions for next year’s groups will be held 4 p.m. May 20-21.
