Bellevue Street to close for sewer repairs in Marietta

A section of Bellevue Street will be closed beginning today as crews conduct sanitary sewer repairs, according to a notice from the City of Marietta Water Reclamation Department.

Bellevue Street will be closed between Bartlett and Lancaster Street through April 14, or until the work is completed.

The project will involve maintenance, repair or replacement of the sanitary sewer system in the area. Officials said the work may require the use of heavy equipment and could impact nearby properties.

Work is scheduled to take place from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

City officials did not indicate a detour route but advised motorists to avoid the area during the closure period.

Ribeye steak dinner Friday

VFW Post 5108 will have a ribeye steak dinner from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the post, 319 Pike St., Marietta. The dinner will be served with baked potato, salad and roll. Cost is $25. For more information or carryout, call 740-374-9038.

GriefShare program continues

Gilman United Methodist Church, 312 Gilman Ave., in Marietta, will be offering a 13-week GriefShare program in the church’s Fellowship Hall, from noon to 1:30 p.m. through May 7. At GriefShare is intended to provide a safe, comforting place for people to talk with others about their grief. Each week involves a 30-minute video and recovery tips from a workbook. Living Democracy to host study group

A study group from Living Democracy: Engaging Citizens is discussing the Constitution at 5:15 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays every month at the Marietta Armory on the first floor. Everyone is welcome to join.

MHS class of 1955 to meet

The 1955 graduating class of Marietta High School will meet at 11:30 a.m. on the second Wednesday of the month at the Harmar Tavern until further notice. All classmates and friends are welcome.

Free legal advice clinic

The Washington County Bar Association and volunteer attorneys are offering a free advice clinic from 6-8 p.m. on the third Wednesday of every month. The clinic will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 501 Fourth St., Marietta (enter through the back door off the alley behind the church from Wooster Street). Walk-ins are welcome.

CUMC free takeout meal

Christ United Methodist Church, 301 Wooster St., Marietta, will offer a free takeout meal from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the first Friday of the month. All are welcome.

Democrats to host Blue Bag lunch

Blue Bag lunches are held at the Washington County Democratic headquarters, 227 Putnam St., Marietta, on the second and fourth Friday of each month. Bring your bag lunch at 11:30 a.m. Beverages and desserts are provided.

Dementia support group

A dementia support group is held at the O’Neill Center on the first Friday of each month at 10 a.m. This group is intended to assist families affected by Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias by helping them build a strong support system, openly discuss their challenges and find practical solutions. Guidance on coping strategies is also provided in addition to community resource connections. This support group is offered in partnership with Right at Home and Cawley Hospice.
