Guild casting ‘1776’ for 250th

Auditions will be held at 6:30 p.m. May 18-19 at the Parkersburg Actors Guild for the special presentation of “1776” in the Parkersburg’s 250th Celebration of the nation being organized by Downtown PKB.

“1776,” a musical, dramatizes the debate and events leading to the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. The show will be presented at 8 p.m. July 3 on the stage at Bicentennial Park.

The production will be a fully costumed, semi-staged version where scripts will be used on stage. Memorization is not necessarily required.

Five actors from the previous productions of the show by the Actors Guild have already been cast, spokesman Barbara Full said. They are: from the 1972 production, David Rexroad as Edward Rutledge; from the 1986 production, Jeff Haught as John Adams, Full as Abigail Adams, and Steve Goers as John Dickinson to honor his late father’s, Bob’s, performance as Dickinson in that production; and from the 2002 production, Charlie Matthews as John Hancock.
