¯ Washington County Family and Children First council meeting will be held at 1:30 p.m. April 15, at the Washington County E.O.C. office, 204 Davis Ave., Suite C. For more information, call 740-376-7081.

¯ The Washington State College of Ohio Board of Trustees will hold their monthly meeting on Monday, April 20, 2026 at 4:00 pm in room H108 of the Main Building.

¯ Palmer Township will hold meetings at 7 p.m. May 4, June 1, July 6, Aug. 3, Sept. 10, Oct. 5, Nov. 2 and Dec. 7, at the Palmer Community Building, 7153 State Route 676, in Palmer Square.

¯ The Belpre Township trustees will meet at 6 p.m. the first Monday of the month at 335 Baker Road, Little Hocking, plus a second meeting at 8 a.m. on the 15th of each month. If the 15th is on a Saturday, the meeting will be held at 8 a.m. Friday the 14th. If the 15th is on Sunday, the meeting will move to 8 a.m. on Monday the 16th.

¯ The Muskingum Township trustees will meet at 7 p.m. the first Monday of the month (except Sept. 2) with odd months’ meetings held at the town hall and even months at the Oak Grove Fire Department. ¯ The Barlow Township trustees will meet at 8 a.m. the second Monday of the month at the Township Hall, 567 Warrior Drive, Vincent.

¯ The Watertown Township Board of Trustees will meet at 6:30 p.m. the second Monday of the month at the Watertown Volunteer Fire Department.

¯ The Warren Township Board of Trustees will meet at 6 p.m. the second and fourth Mondays of the month at the Warren Township administration office, 95 Coffman Road, Marietta, with the exception of Memorial Day. The 2024 Financial Report for Warren Township has been filed with the Auditor of State’s office. The report is on file at the Warren Township Administration Office for public inspection. ¯ Regular monthly meetings of the Washington County Democratic Executive Committee are at 7 p.m. on the third Monday of each month at Democratic headquarters, 227 Putnam St., Marietta.

¯ The Washington County Board of Developmental Disabilities will meet at 4:15 p.m. on the first Tuesday of the month, at Ewing School. The tentative schedule is: May 5; June 2; no meeting in July unless a special need arises; Aug. 4; Sept. 8, the second Tuesday of the month; Oct. 6; Nov. 3; and Dec. 1. Individuals wishing to address the board at the meetings should contact the superintendent’s office at 740-373-3781 by noon on the day preceding the board meeting. Preliminary agendas for each board meeting may be obtained by calling the office during the week of the scheduled meeting. ¯ The Village of Lowell Council will meet at 6 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month at the Village Office Building, 308 Walnut St., Lowell.

¯ The Ludlow Township Board of Trustees will meet at 7:30 p.m. on the last day of each month at the town hall.

¯ The Reno Area Water and Sewer District will hold its regularly scheduled meetings at 6 p.m. Tuesdays; April 21, May 19, June 16, July 21, Aug. 18, Sept. 15, Oct. 20 and Nov. 17; at the Reno Water Office, 170 Mount Tom Road. The public is welcome to attend.

¯ The Lawrence Township Board of Trustees will meet at 7 p.m. the first Thursday of the month at the Little Muskingum Volunteer Fire Department. The Lawrence Township Board of Trustees has filed its 2024 Annual Financial Report with the State of Ohio. ¯ The Waterford Township Board of Trustees will meet in regular session at 7 p.m. on the first Thursday of every month for the calendar year 2026, at the township building.

¯ AARP Tax-Aide is offering free tax return preparation for all taxpayers on Mondays and Thursdays through today. Schedule appointments by calling the main branch of the Washington County Library at 740-373-1057. They will not be accepting walk-ins. Taxpayers should bring all their tax documents including any letters from the IRS along with a copy of last year’s tax return plus picture ID and Social Security cards for all family members. If you are expecting a refund, bring a check.

¯ The Zonta Club of the Mid-Ohio Valley will hold its annual Spring Unique Boutique from 2-8 p.m. Friday, April 10, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 11, at the Reno Community Center, 260 Sandhill Road, in Marietta. Donations of gently used men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, shoes, coats, jewelry, purses, accessories and more will be accepted from 4-8 p.m. April 6-9 at the Reno Community Center. Prior to those dates, clothing may be dropped off at Advantage Real Estate and McCarthy Real Estate during regular business hours. On Friday, April 10, you may enter the sale early with a donation of a box of pads, tampons or deodorant. On Saturday, April 11, there will be a bag sale where you may stuff a 13-gallon trash bag with clothes for $10 per bag. Concessions will be available. ¯ Blessing Birds is holding a fundraiser from 4-8 p.m. April 11, at Marietta Elementary School, to raise funds to help in the community. Blessing Birds is a nonprofit with 501(c)3 status. Blessing Birds assists with book fairs, Santa Shop, sports fees, etc. They also do random acts of kindness and help wherever help is needed. There will be a country store, raffle, 50/50 drawing, concessions and activities for the kids.

¯ The 2026 Washington County 4-H Endowment Dinner and Auction will be April 11 at the Washington County Jr. Fair Building. Tickets are $30, must be purchased in advance, and are limited to 300. A table of 8 can be reserved for $300. Doors open at 5 p.m. for the silent auction. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. with the live auction starting at 7:30 p.m. Dinner includes a choice of grilled NY strip steak or grilled chicken breast with apple sauce, a baked potato, coleslaw, green beans, roll, dessert and beverages. The dinner proceeds go towards 4-H trips, camps, and other learning experiences along with training for adult volunteers. ¯ The 71st annual Waterford FFA Banquet will be at 6 p.m. April 15, at the Waterford High School Gymnasium. Make your reservations by April 3. Waterford FFA will also be accepting donations toward the banquet. Contributions made will be used for awards and scholarships, you may mail donations to P.O. Box 67, Waterford, OH 45786. ¯ The Buckeye State Button Society presents Hearts Full of Buttons from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 18 and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 19, at the Carlisle Inn, Sugarcreek. ¯ First Presbyterian Church, 501 Fourth St., Marietta, will hold a jigsaw puzzle event from 2-5 p.m. April 19. You may choose one of four puzzles to work on. There is no charge but you are welcome to bring a snack to share. All ages are welcome to come and the church is handicap accessible. Enter through the church parking lot door.

¯ Gilman United Methodist Church, 312 Gilman Ave., Marietta will hold a chicken pie dinner from 4:30-6 p.m. April 24. Dinner is $12 per person and includes chicken pie, mashed potatoes, coleslaw, green beans and dessert. You may dine in or carry out. You can order by calling the church at 740-373-6478 by April 19.

¯ Marietta’s Earth Day Celebration will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 25, at Armory Square. There will be crafts, activities and educational displays focused on the environment including the return of the raptors, native fish and river turtles. The event is free for all ages. Entertainment will be by High Schools that Rock.

¯ The Trash to Art and More Show will be April 26 at Armory Square. Find raw materials in the waste basket or recycling bin to make art. Your entry may be decorative, functional, artsy or all of the above. Prizes will be given. Bring entries to the Trash to Art Entry Table at Armory Square by 10 a.m. on April 26.

¯ Fearing Township Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual Mother’s Day Dinner at 11 a.m. May 10, at 1975 Stanleyville Road, Whipple. Admission is $12 and $6 for children. Dinner includes baked steak, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans and dessert.

¯ The Marietta Township School Reunion will be held at noon May 16, at the Marietta Township Community Building in Reno. The reunion includes former students and teachers of Reno, Sand Hill, Goose Run, Jennings Hill, Cornerville, Barker, Yankeeburg and Eight Mile Schools. Chicken, ham, coffee, tea and table service will be provided. Bring a covered dish to share as well as memorabilia of your school and community. ¯ The 120th Waterford High School Alumni Banquet will be held May 23, at Waterford High School. Tours of the school will begin at 4:30 p.m., seating begins at 5:45 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person and must be bought by May 9. – Every second Monday: At 4:30 p.m. there will be an informal book discussion at Lock #4 Coffee Shop, 123 Third St., Beverly. A small drink will be provided by the Library.

– Every Wednesday:

¯ The Breakfast Club Story Time begins at 8:15 a.m. and is for children ages 2-6 who are accompanied by an adult. Story Time will include stories, crafts, games and music. The story time will include a small breakfast snack. The library will be closed at this time, so they ask those attending to use the back door.

¯ Starting at 10:30 a.m., Baby Bookworms will meet. Baby Bookworms is a story/play time for children 2 and under who are accompanied by an adult.

¯ Starting at 3:15 p.m., “Once Upon a Time We…,” an after-school fun time for ages 6-12, will begin meeting. Topics for this event will change each week, and activities may include crafts, games or books. No registration is required.

– Every First Thursday: Starting at 6 p.m., teens and adults are invited to learn about basic hand-sewing techniques. This is part of the Let’s Get Crafty program.

– Every Third Thursday:

• At 6 p.m., stop in and make Granny Squares using a Crochet Circle. The Granny Squares will be collected to make a blanket that will then be donated to a worthy cause. Hooks and yarn will be provided. If you don’t know how to crochet, they will teach you. This event is for teens and adults. Crochet Along at the Library (CAL) will meet at 6 p.m. every third Thursday. No registration is required.

– Every First Saturday: Anytime between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., the Builders Club will be meeting. They will set up a kit for everyone to work on together. They will also have some blocks for people to do an independent build. This event is for ages 5 and up and is an “at-your-own-pace” program.

• The Barlow Branch Library, 45 White Oak Professional Center, Vincent, will present the following events. For more information or to register, contact the library at 740-678-0103.

– The library will hold an art show entitled “The Storytelling of Art” by Patti Landovek and Melody Blaney through Tuesday. The exhibit will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays. Admission is free.

– Every Monday or Tuesday: Story Time at the Barlow Branch is at 10:15 a.m. Mondays or Tuesdays for newborns through preschool. Registration is required.

– Every Thursday: The library will hold beginner line dancing classes at 6:30 p.m., with Donnie Allen as instructor. The cost is $16 total for the four sessions. This event is for teens and adults. Registration is required.

– Third Thursdays through May: Teen entertainment for grades five to 12 after school until 4 p.m.

– Every fourth Thursday: The Junior ALLY Club will meet after school from 3:45 to 5 p.m. Busing will be provided for a limited number of students. Busing options will require calling the library to sign up and sending a note to the school in advance. – Every Friday: A gaming hour will be held at 4 p.m. for ages 8-18. Participants must reserve their spot in advance and must be picked up no later than 5:30 p.m. The space will be limited to eight people max. Spots will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. A variety of video games will be provided to choose from each week.

• The Belpre Branch Library, 2012 Washington Blvd., will present the following events. For more information or to register, contact the library at 740-423-8381.

– Every Monday: At 10:30 a.m., kids under 3 and their grownups are invited to come for a 30-minute story time experience. This program features developmentally appropriate stories, songs and activities for the littlest library patrons. No registration is required.

– Every Wednesday: The Teen Pathfinder Role-Playing Group will meet at 4 p.m.; 12- to 18-year-olds can join the group for adventure and snacks. Registration is required.

– Every Thursday: At 2 p.m., homeschoolers under the age of 12 can come hang out for some social time with their peers. No registration is required.

– Every Friday: At 10:30 a.m., kids ages 3 to 5 and their grown-ups are invited to come for a fun and educational introduction to the alphabet and the world around them. Each week will feature a letter or theme, and families will have the opportunity to take home an enrichment packet to continue their learning throughout the week. No registration is required.

• The Marietta Branch Library, 615 Fifth St., will present the following events. For more information or to register, call 740-373-1057.

– Every Monday: Stop by the library from 3-5 p.m. to learn about and explore Black inventors throughout history. Make a craft based on their inventions and read about their lives to celebrate Black History Month. This drop-in event is open to all ages, and no registration is required.

– Every other Monday: Art Exploration will be held from 3-5 p.m. This event is open to all ages, and no registration is required.

– Every Wednesday:

• Story Hour for children ages 3-6 and their caregivers will be held at 10 a.m. or 1 p.m. No registration is required. Call the youth services department for more information.

– Every Thursday:

• Preschool movies for kids ages 2-6 will be shown at 3 p.m. Movies will last no longer than 30 minutes.

• Afterschool Movies are from 4-5:30 p.m. All movies are rated G or PG and will run no longer than 100 minutes. You may call the children’s department to inquire about the movie titles. Popcorn and bottled water will be served. Open to all ages. Those ages 7 and under must have a caregiver attend with them. No registration is required.

– Every Friday: Toddler Time featuring stories and crafts for children ages 18 months to 3 years and their caregivers will be held at 10 a.m. No registration is required. For more information, call the Youth Services Department at the library.

– Every Second Saturday: Leftover Craft Events will be held 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Come see the assortment available including Paint by Sticker, Friendship Bracelets, Mandalas and Character Drawing. Drop in anytime between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., and stay for as long as you’d like (or until the library closes), as well as collect supplies and take them home to complete your project. All supplies are provided. These events are open to all ages, and no registration is required.

– IT Specialist: An IT specialist will be available to help with technology questions from 1-3:30 p.m on Tuesdays and 9:30-11:30 a.m. on Fridays. They will help you learn how to use your cell phone, computer, tablet, the internet or Microsoft Office programs.

• Gilman United Methodist Church, 312 Gilman Avenue, in Marietta, will be offering a 13-week GriefShare program in the church’s Fellowship Hall, from noon to 1:30 p.m. through May 7. At GriefShare is intended to provide a safe, comforting place for people to talk with others about their grief. Each week involves a 30-minute video and recovery tips from a workbook. • A faith-based cancer support group will meet at noon on the second Monday of the month at Gilman United Methodist Church, 312 Gilman Ave., Marietta.

• A free men’s breakfast will be held at 9 a.m. on the first Tuesday of each month at the O’Neill Center. Donations will be accepted.

• A study group from Living Democracy: Engaging Citizens is discussing the Constitution at 5:15 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays every month at the Marietta Armory on the first floor. Everyone is welcome to join.

• The 1955 graduating class of Marietta High School will meet at 11:30 a.m. on the second Wednesday of the month at the Harmar Tavern until further notice. All classmates and friends are welcome.

• The Washington County Bar Association and volunteer attorneys are offering a free advice clinic from 6-8 p.m. on the third Wednesday of every month. The clinic will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 501 Fourth St., Marietta (enter through the back door off the alley behind the church from Wooster Street). Walk-ins are welcome.

• Christ United Methodist Church, 301 Wooster St., Marietta, will offer a free takeout meal from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the first Friday of the month. All are welcome.

• Blue Bag lunches are held at the Washington County Democratic headquarters, 227 Putnam St., Marietta, on the second and fourth Friday of each month. Bring your bag lunch at 11:30 a.m. Beverages and desserts are provided.

• Gilman United Methodist Church, 312 Gilman Ave., Marietta offers Sunday worship service with Pastor Cheryl Arnold at 10:30 a.m. Adult Sunday school class is at 9:30 a.m. Coffee, light refreshments and fellowship at 9:30 a.m. All are welcome.

• Brownsville Church of Christ’s regular services include morning Bible study at 9:45 a.m., morning worship services at 10:30 a.m., evening worship services at 6:30 p.m. and Wednesday Bible study at 7 p.m.

• The Alzheimer’s Association support group meetings in the area include: Marietta Support Group, 10-11:30 a.m. first Fridays at the O’Neill Center, 333 Fourth St., with facilitator Krissy Kearns, 937-974-2387; Belpre Chamber of Commerce, 1-2:40 p.m. second Mondays at 713 Park Drive, with facilitator Susie Casto.

• The O’Neill Center will hold mani/pedis with appointments from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month. Cost is $16 for manicure and $33 for pedicure. Call the O’Neill Center for appointments.

• A dementia support group is held at the O’Neill Center on the first Friday of each month at 10 a.m. This group is intended to assist families affected by Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias by helping them build a strong support system, openly discuss their challenges and find practical solutions. Guidance on coping strategies is also provided in addition to community resource connections. This support group is offered in partnership with Right at Home and Cawley Hospice.

Classes/Workshops/Programs/Seminars

• Zumba classes will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and 11:30 a.m. Monday at the O’Neill Center. The cost is $5 per class or $25 for six classes. All ages welcome. For more information, call 740-373-3914.

• The O’Neill Center in Marietta will hold bingo at 9:30 a.m. Thursdays. No cost at the door to play 20 games, and it is a nickel per card per game. Seating is limited. Also scheduled are: a free gentle yoga class at 10 a.m. Tuesdays; bridge at 1 p.m. Tuesdays; euchre at 1 p.m. Wednesdays; hand and foot cards at 1 p.m. Wednesdays; chair volleyball at 9 a.m first and fourth Wednesdays; free afternoon at the movies at 1 p.m. Thursdays.

• Weekly ballroom dancing classes will be held 7-10 p.m. the second, third and fourth Saturdays of the month at Miller Prosthetics, 2311 Ohio Ave., Parkersburg. Dress is casual. Cost is a $5 per person donation with singles and couples welcome.
