Marietta Main Street’s plants Garden Party theme for First Friday

Downtown Marietta welcomes May with a Garden Party theme for May’s First Friday.

The community can enjoy late shopping, dining and drink specials, live music, popup artists, special sales and more.

On the Armory Lawn, Marietta Main Street will host the Marietta Rowing & Cycling Club, WASCO, Marietta Noon Lions Club, Gilman United Methodist Church, Washington County Career Center, Students Solving Problems, Artsbridge, Waterview Pointe, the Boys & Girls Club, the Goldwing Club and the MOV’n Dragons.

On Putnam Street, Peoples Bank Theatre will offer a free outdoor concert featuring Renee Stewart, beginning at 6 p.m. People are encouraged to bring a lawn chair to enjoy the performance.

Teri Ann’s will host jewelry maker Rachel Marie, while Dad’s Primitive Workbench will welcome Goldie Permanent Jewelry.

JustaJar Design Press and Schafer Leather Store will be open late.

At Clutch Collective, local artist Mason Beuhring will be on hand with his unique art and prints.

First City Records has planned a 1920s speakeasy lounge event. The Front Street Quartet, a new local jazz band, will be playing tunes from the past 100 years, and people are invited to wear their best flapper-era outfits and join the fun.

At Over the Moon Pub & Pizza, Evie Schaffer will perform live from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Downtown First Friday events take place the first Friday of every month from 5-9 p.m., February through December.

Marietta Main Street Executive Director Jennifer Tinkler said the monthly events are an important program that uplift the downtown businesses.

“First Fridays turn our downtown into a vibrant, welcoming destination,” Tinkler said. “It’s an opportunity for residents and visitors alike to explore, shop and experience the heart of our community in a fun and meaningful way.”
