Washington County Career Center inducts Honor Society

The National Technical Honor Society of the Washington County Career Center recently held the induction of new members. Thirty-three students and their guests were invited to the reception.

The National Technical Honor Society, formed in 1984, recognizes outstanding career and technical students for achievement in seven competency areas, including skill, honesty, service, responsibility, scholarship, citizenship and leadership. Locally, the Career Center has honored students for 33 years. This year, 20 new initiates were inducted at a ceremony on April 16 at the Career Center.

New inductees are:

· Faith Buck, a Marietta junior in the Landscape Construction & Turf Management program, and the daughter of Mike and Jessica Buck of Marietta.

· Starr Buck, a Marietta junior in the Digital Marketing program, and the daughter of Mike and Jessica Buck of Marietta.

· Kyndra Dalrymple, a Marietta junior in the Sports Medicine & Exercise Science program, and the daughter of Jessica Dalrymple of Marietta.

· McKenzie DeLong, a Marietta junior in the Graphic Design & Video Production program, and the daughter of Brian DeLong of Marietta and the granddaughter of Richard and Karen DeLong of Marietta.

· Emma Eddy, a Frontier junior in the Patient Health Care program, and the daughter of Kenny and Libby Eddy of Newport.

· Caitlyn Hanes, a Frontier junior in the Landscape Construction & Turf Management program, and the daughter of Matthew and Samantha Hanes of Newport.

· Nevaeh Howard, a Fort Frye junior in the Fire/EMS program, and the daughter of Dustin Howard and Kristina Morrow, both of Lower Salem.

· Andrew Kiggans, a Warren junior in the Sports Medicine & Exercise Science program, and the son of Michele Kiggans of Waterford and the late Jason Kiggans.

· Ayden Lockhart, a Fort Frye junior in the Landscape Construction & Turf Management program, and the son of Michael and Meagan Lockhart of Beverly.

· Riley McCutcheon, a Marietta junior in the Graphic Design & Video Production program, and the daughter of Michael and Kristin McCutcheon of Marietta.

· Tylor McDougal, a Waterford junior in the Building Technology/Carpentry program, and the son of Joshua and Stacy McDougal of Waterford.

· Shaylea Perine, a Waterford junior in the Masonry program, and the daughter of Jason and Cassey Perine of Waterford.

· Carter Ruble, a Warren junior in the Medical College Prep program, and the son of Jimmy Ruble and Misty Nichols of Vincent.

· Scott Schuh, a Marietta junior in the Graphic Design & Video Production program, and the son of Stephanie Wood of Marietta.

· Hannah Seevers, a Marietta junior in the Heavy Equipment program, and the daughter of James and Lorrie Seevers of Marietta.

· Riley Smith, a Warren junior in the Landscape Construction & Turf Management program, and the daughter of Eric and Misty Smith of Cutler.

· William “Jake” Stiers, a Warren senior in the Electricity program, and the son of John and Susan Stiers of Marietta. Stiers plans to enter the IBEW Local 972 to become an electrician.

· Ethen Watson, a Marietta junior in the Diesel Truck Mechanics program, and the son of Jon and Rachel Barker of Marietta.

· Skyler Watson, a Marietta junior in the Electricity program, and the son of Jon and Rachel Barker of Marietta.

· Ty Worthington, a Fort Frye junior in the Diesel Truck Mechanics program, and the son of Nathan and Cindy Worthington of Lowell.

Returning members are:

· Max Anderson, a Marietta senior in the Sports Medicine & Exercise Science program, and the son of Guy and Michael Anderson. Anderson will be attending Ohio University to obtain a doctorate of physical therapy.

· Faith Duskey, a Fort Frye senior in the Digital Marketing program, and the daughter of Adam and Tiffany Duskey of Beverly. Duskey will be attending West Virginia University to obtain a bachelor’s degree in marketing.

· Brody Garvin, a Fort Frye senior in the Fire/EMS program, and the son of Mike Garvin of Beverly and Valarie Drayer Fortney of Marietta. Garvin will be attending Hocking College to obtain a paramedic certification to work as a flight paramedic.

· Annabelle Harris, a Warren senior in the Pre-Nursing program, and the daughter of Ronnie and Dawn Harris of Belpre. Harris will be attending college for nursing.

· Madalynn Hinton, a Fort Frye senior in the Pre-Nursing program, and the daughter of Chris Hinton of Marietta and Amanda Hinton of Lowell. Hinton will be attending college to become a pediatrician. She hopes to work at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

· Marina Johnson, a Warren senior in the Sports Medicine & Exercise Science program, and the daughter of Randy and Stephanie Johnson of Marietta. Johnson will be attending Hocking College to obtain an associate of science degree to work in physical therapy. She will also be playing softball while there.

· Elora Mash, a Warren senior in the Graphic Design & Video Production program, and the daughter of Brandon and Olivia Mash of Cutler. Mash will be attending Kent State University for interior design and architecture with a minor in American sign language. She plans to travel the world.

· Sophia Parlin, a Marietta senior in the Graphic Design & Video Production program, and the daughter of Steve and Melissa Parlin of Marietta. Parlin will be attending Franciscan University of Steubenville for theology with a minor in evangelization.

· Morgyn Phillis, a Frontier senior in the Sports Medicine & Exercise Science program, and the daughter of Scott Phillis and Samantha Smith of Newport. Phillis will be attending Washington State College of Ohio to complete her prerequisites and then transfer to pursue a degree in criminology or forensic science.

· Jonathan Schmidt, a Marietta senior in the Building Technology/Carpentry program, and the son of Joseph and Christine Schmidt of Marietta. Schmidt plans to continue working for the construction job he obtained through the Career Center’s early placement program.

· Lila Smith, a Warren senior in the Medical College Prep program, and the daughter of Eric and Deidre Smith of Amesville. Smith will be attending Washington State College of Ohio to become an RN then transfer to Ohio University to obtain a master’s degree.

· Brooklyn Stimpert, a Marietta senior in the Sports Medicine & Exercise Science program, and the daughter of Cory Stimpert of Whipple and Breanna Turner of Marietta. Stimpert will be attending Ohio University for hearing, speech and language sciences.

· Addison Stout, a Warren senior in the Sports Medicine & Exercise Science program, and the daughter of Troy Stout of Vincent and Ericka Diehl of Marietta. Stout will be attending Ohio University for pre-law and then proceed to law school.

Students are selected for National Technical Honor Society membership based upon scholarship (3.8 Career Center gpa), teacher recommendations and exemplifying the seven ideals of skill, honesty, service, responsibility, scholarship, citizenship and leadership. Many Career Center students over the years have been members of both the Career Center Honor Society and their respective partner school honor society.
