Two-vehicle crash results in lane closure, power outage on Emerson Avenue
PARKERSBURG – A two-vehicle crash involving an Amazon delivery truck and a tow truck took place shortly before 11 a.m. Tuesday on Emerson Avenue north of Interstate 77 heading toward Waverly.
At 10:55 a.m., the Wood County 911 Center received over 10 calls reporting power lines down, which was the result of a vehicle striking a utility pole.
A 911 center supervisor said the Amazon vehicle ended up on its side with power lines coming down and trapping the wrecker, which was owned by Westfall Wrecker Service.
The supervisor reported there were multiple fire and police emergency personnel who responded to the scene and there were no fatalities. As of Tuesday, there were no updates on the status of the individuals involved in the accident.
By 3 p.m. Tuesday, the lines were still down. Emergency personnel were directing traffic due to the stoplights that were without power and a portion of the road near the accident was reduced to one-lane traffic, according to the supervisor.
The Williamstown Police Department, which responded to the scene, and Wood County Sheriff’s Office did not respond to requests for comment or more information regarding the accident Tuesday.
