Slots available for summer history camp
Some spaces remain available for The Castle’s summer history camp program, with the deadline to sign up on Friday. The five-day history camp is slated for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 6-10 at The Castle, the Victorian house museum on Fourth Street in Marietta. This year’s theme is “Expansion and Change, 1820-1840.” It will explore the local, state, national and global events of the period, from the construction of Ohio’s canals and the rise of early industry to social movements for abolition, temperance and education. Activities for campers will include crafts, games, tours, music, dancing and more. Registration closes on Friday. Cost is $30 per day or $125 for the week. Family and Children First Council to meet today

Juneteenth open house Saturday
The Farmers Castle Museum, operated by the Belpre Historical Society, will have an open house from 1-4 p.m. Saturday in recognition of Juneteenth. The Underground Railroad in Southeastern Ohio, a permanent exhibit that details the rise of the freedom movement along the Ohio River shoreline of Washington County in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, will be featured. WHS Class of 2001 reunion Aug. 15
The Warren High School Class of 2001 will hold its 25-year class reunion from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Aug. 15, at The Galley in Marietta. There will be light appetizers and a cash bar. Cost is $25 per person. Explore with Ancient People June 23
The Beverly Branch Library at 300 McIntosh St., will host Terrific Tuesday on June 23 featuring Explore with Ancient People. The staff of the library will have other activities set up around the library and outside. They will have Brunch with an Archaeologist at 10:30 a.m. where they will be joined by John Boilegh, ODNR Archaeologist. He will have a presentation about being an archaeologist.
Used book sale Saturday
Marietta Branch Library will hold a “deep discount” pop-up used book sale from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. The sale features hardback books for 50 cents and 4 paperbacks for $1, and is sponsored by the Friends of the Washington County Library at the “Little Yellow House,” 617 Fifth St., Marietta.
Free legal advice clinic
The Washington County Bar Association and volunteer attorneys are offering a free advice clinic from 6-8 p.m. on the third Wednesday of every month. The clinic will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 501 Fourth St., Marietta (enter through the back door off the alley behind the church from Wooster Street). Walk-ins are welcome.
