PARKERSBURG – The Trinity Episcopal Church is accepting used book donations for the annual used book sale this fall. According to a release from the church, the annual book sale has provided a source of funding for church and community programs for more than 75 years.
Book donations are accepted from 10:30-11:45 a.m. every Wednesday starting July 1 and ending Aug. 26.
Books can be brought to the red door near the alley behind the church at 430 Juliana St., Parkersburg.
According to the release, the Trinity Episcopal Used Book Sale will be held in October.
“The success of the annual sale starts with the people in our community,” said Lynn Fury, book sale chairperson. “Year after year, we have been able to rely on our local supporters to donate a bounty of books, from old favorites to just-read top sellers.”
Unsalable materials include musty, mildewed and tattered books, encyclopedias, dictionaries, reference books, magazines and pamphlets, small recipe books, books related to fast-changing topics like technology, health, business and finance, and cassette or VHS tapes.
Travel books published less than five years ago and nonfiction less than 10 years old are acceptable.
“Throughout our lives, we all have had books that entertained, educated or enlightened us,” said Fury. “Some filled our imaginations with bold adventures or broadened our understanding of our world. We are grateful to the people who share their books with us and help support projects in our community.”
Certain books qualify as “prized gems,” which includes West Virginia history, yearbooks, hardcover pictorial coffee-table books, or pre-1940 books.
Some genres that will be on display at the sale include children’s; Civil War; history; home care including improvements and gardening; science; sports and hobbies; Bibles and religion.
The book sales staff will accept records, DVDs and CDs, if the discs and covers are in good condition.
