MARIETTA — Two downtown Marietta boutique shops are launching a new summer pop-up series aimed at bringing artists, music and shoppers to Front Street on Sunday afternoons.
Wit & Whimzy and Clutch Collective MOV will host the first Second Sunday Pop-Up from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 14, on the 100 block of Front Street. Artists and vendors will be set up on the sidewalk in front of the shops.
The outdoor marketplace will feature local and regional artists, live music and refreshments.
“I’m really excited for this event to give people the chance to meet some wonderful artists and vendors,” said Laura Pytlik, owner of Wit & Whimzy. “It also provides some fun and unique shopping on a Sunday afternoon when people may be looking for something different to do.”
The first event will include work from local artists Corrissa Flesher, Shannon Hammer, Michele VanMatre of Appalachian Anthropologie and Missy Spangler of Crafting N’ Scrapping. They will be joined by Seth Pitt of Thomas, W.Va., and Adrienne Galloway, The Queen of Arts, of Charleston, W.Va.
Hannah and Levi Westfall will provide live music, and SIPS Coffee Truck will offer refreshments.
“We dreamed up these Second Sunday Pop-Ups as a fun way to support artists, bring people downtown on a Sunday, and provide the community with additional opportunities to connect with local creativity,” said Sarah Arnold, owner of Clutch Collective. “We’re excited to see our first event come together this weekend!”
Additional Second Sunday Pop-Ups are planned for July 12 and Aug. 9, with new artists featured each month. Arnold and Pytlik said they hope the series becomes a summer staple and grows into an annual tradition.
The event is open to the public.
