Ohio Valley Jeep Club donates $1,000 to Combat to Kayaks to support veterans

By Staff Reports 2 min read

The Ohio Valley Jeep Club (OVJC) has donated $1,000 to Combat to Kayaks, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping veterans, active-duty military personnel and first responders find healing through kayaking and the outdoors.

The donation is part of OVJC Cares, the club’s community outreach program, which supports organizations making a positive impact throughout West Virginia and Ohio.

Combat to Kayaks uses the therapeutic benefits of kayaking, nature and peer support to help veterans and first responders who may be struggling with post-traumatic stress, anxiety, depression and the challenges associated with military service. By providing opportunities to connect with others while enjoying time on the water, the organization creates an environment that promotes healing, resilience, and overall wellness.

“Supporting our veterans has always been one of the core missions of Ohio Valley Jeep Club,” said OVJC President Brad Hackney. “The freedoms we enjoy every day are possible because of the sacrifices made by the men and women who have served our country. We are honored to support organizations like Combat to Kayaks that continue serving our veterans long after their military service has ended. If we can help provide even one veteran with an opportunity to heal, reconnect, and know their community appreciates them, then this donation is well worth it.”

OVJC has a long history of supporting veteran-focused organizations throughout West Virginia and Ohio through its charitable initiatives. Funds raised during the club’s annual events, including Jeep Jam, are reinvested into local communities through donations that support veterans, children, families facing hardship and other nonprofit organizations.

“Giving back is what our club is all about,” Hackney said. “Every event our members organize is about more than just Jeeps, it’s about making a difference in the communities we call home.”

Ohio Valley Jeep Club is one of the largest Jeep clubs in West Virginia and Ohio, with more than 8,800 members. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, OVJC's mission is to support local communities through charitable giving, food bank donations, assistance to veterans, youth programs and outreach to those in need.
