Armory Walk of Honor to lay more bricks in November
Trending
MARIETTA - The Veterans Walk of Honor at Armory Square on Front Street will hold its biannual brick laying at noon on Saturday, Nov. 7.
Those serving in the military now and veterans who have been honorably discharged are eligible to have their names placed on a brick purchased for the Walk of Honor. People can also purchase bricks for the Community Walk to honor someone who lives in the community.
The event is intended to allow families to come together to commemorate or celebrate their loved ones. Armory Square volunteers are on hand to prepare the spot picked by the family so that family members may lay the brick of their loved one. Family members need not be present, as all bricks are laid during the event. Veterans do not have to have lived in this community. Those that do not are linked to someone who resides here who wants their veteran honored.
The deadline is Oct. 1 to order bricks to be laid on Nov. 7. Brick applications can be obtained by visiting the Armory Square Marietta Ohio Facebook page and printing them off, stopping by the Marietta-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau on the ground floor of the Armory or by calling Jan Powell at 740-706-1770.
