MARIETTA - A Marietta man was indicted on a charge of attempted murder after allegedly stabbing another man on Sunday.
Ernesto Antonio Gomez, 60, 123 Sunset Drive, was one of 19 people indicted this week by the Washington County Grand Jury.
Gomez was charged with first-degree felony attempted murder, second-degree felonious assault and a fourth-degree felony count of aggravated assault. According to the indictment and Washington County Prosecutor Joe Derkin, Gomez allegedly stabbed Gustavo Adolfo Gomez-Florian, who is apparently not related to him, on Sunday at Gomez's residence.
Also indicted was Gavin Michael Rummer, 19, 135 Vanfossen Road, Lowell, on charges of first-degree felony kidnapping, third-degree felony strangulation and first-degree misdemeanor domestic violence.
According to a report from the Washington County Sheriff's Office, Rummer was arrested July 6 after it was reported he would not let a female leave a residence in Adams Township. The victim told the responding deputy they had been in an argument and she accidentally hit Rummer while reaching for a bag he was keeping from her. She said he struck her twice then choked her for approximately 10 seconds. When the verbal argument resumed the next day, she called a family member who contacted law enforcement. Rummer told the deputy he had to hold the female down after she struck him going for her bag during the argument.
Other people indicted by the grand jury included:
* Jacqueline Buckles, 33, 511 ½ 54th St., Vienna; two third-degree felony counts of tampering with drugs and one fourth-degree felony count of theft of drugs. According to the indictment, Buckles is a licensed practical nurse accused of taking and/or altering medication for two residents at Belpre Landing Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation in November.
* Hunter Wayne Dearth, 23, 108 Holly St., Marietta; theft, fifth-degree felony, from April to May.
* James Nemo Croston, 49, 300 Buckeye Ridge, Chesterhill; failure to appear as required by recognizance, fourth-degree felony, from Aug. 10.
* Drexel Lee Perry III, 42, 601 Roseland Ave., Williamstown; failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer, fourth-degree felony, and operating a vehicle under the influence, first-degree misdemeanor, from April.
* Branden Allen Holcomb, 40, 410 Maple St., Marietta; tampering with evidence, third-degree felony, and possessing criminal tools, fifth-degree felony, from November.
* Emetayare Jones Enomate, 29, Washington County Jail; harassment with a bodily substance, fifth-degree felony, from Aug. 4.
* Tiernan Khan Hensler, 20, 409 Fort St., Apt. 1, Marietta; fourth-degree felony assault from November.
* Gaden Darcova Carpenter, 20, Marietta; strangulation, fourth-degree felony, and domestic violence, first-degree misdemeanor, from June.
* Amanda Bethany Hartline (aka Offenberger), 847, 850 Pryor Glass Road, New Matamoras; grand theft, a fourth-degree felony from April 2025, and tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony from October.
* Michael Thomas Klintworth, 38, Waterford; second-degree felonious assault, fourth-degree felony strangulation and first-degree misdemeanor domestic violence from July.
* Christina Lynn Greathouse, 21, 276 Ridgewood Drive, Apt. J, Marietta; illegal possession or control of a deadly weapon or dangerous ordnance in a courthouse, fifth-degree felony, and resisting arrest, second-degree misdemeanor, from June.
* Robert Michael Reel II, 32, 53864 Number 9 Road, Reedsville; two second-degree felony counts of illegal use of a minor or impaired person in nudity-oriented material or performance; two fifth-degree felony counts of importuning; abd one count each of third-degree felony unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and fourth-degree felony attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor from July.
* Weston Charles Hickman, 33, 836 Pike St., Apt. 23, Marietta; tampering with evidence, third-degree felony, from Aug. 10.
* Jonathan Michael Range, July42, 117 Forest Ave., Mineral Wells; grand theft of a motor vehicle, fourth-degree felony, and misdemeanor theft from July.
* David Jon Tibbs, 35, 3300 Clement Ave., Apt. 3, Parkersburg; breaking and entering, fifth-degree felony; grand theft of a motor vehicle, fourth-degree felony; and criminal trespass, fourth-degree misdemeanor, from May.
* Joshua R. Ayers, 26, 415 Henderson Ave., Williamstown; improperly discharging a firearm at or into a habitation, second-degree felony; improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, fourth-degree felony; and aggravated menacing, first-degree misdemeanor, from July.
* Chase Daniel O'Donnell, 25, 1562 Suzanne Circle, Belpre; third-degree felony gross sexual imposition from Aug. 11.
