Gerber Dental celebrates 80th

ST. MARYS - A family dental practice in St. Marys is celebrating its 80th anniversary.
Gerber Family Dental Practice was founded in 1946 by the late Dr. C.R. Gerber Jr. and has been continuously operated by his children and grandchildren in a tradition spanning three generations of dentists. The Gerber family has cared for thousands of patients over the last 80 years, many from multiple generations of the same families.
Today the practice continues with one of Gerber’s sons, Dr. Richard Gerber.
An open house to celebrate the anniversary was held Aug. 13. Guests enjoyed refreshments and snacks while touring the office where historical photos and memorabilia of the practice were on display.
“Few healthcare practices can say they have continuously served the same community for eight decades through three generations of one family,” Gerber said. "This celebration is really about thanking the patients and familles who have allowed us to be part of their lives for so many years."
Members of the family are Dr. Richard Gerber, his brother Dr. Jay Gerber, Jay's daughter Dr. Amy Smith and Richard's daughter Dr. Kathryn Epkey.
"One patient at the open house shared her story that she had been treated by my father in 1946 and is still a patient in our office today," Richard Gerber said. "We are the only dental practice she has ever gone to."
