Meet Me on Market returns Friday

PARKERSBURG -- Downtown businesses and organizations will offer live music, art, food and family activities Friday during Meet Me on Market.
The event will run from 5-7:30 p.m. along Market Street, with several businesses remaining open late, according to a release from Downtown PKB.
Discovery World on Market will offer $5 admission until 5 p.m. At the corner of Eighth and Market streets, the Wood County Society and Art From the Heart Shop will provide creative activities for all ages, and the gift shop will be open during the evening.
Downtown PKB will set up giant lawn games near the shop, and Habitat for Humanity will also participate along Market Street.
The Parkersburg Art Center will display "The River," a juried exhibition featuring professional artists from Ohio and West Virginia. Visitors may vote for the People's Choice award.
Children may participate in a Lego Build Zone and gallery scavenger hunt, while a Parkersburg Outdoor Drinking Area bar will be available for adults.
The Market at the Art Center will remain open late and feature craft demonstrations by weaver Cheryl Stahle, local woodcarvers and the center's resident potters. The shop will also offer a $6 Artful Thrift rack and discounted art supplies while supplies last.
First Chapter Bookstore will host local author Joy Held and Renee Murphy of Pretty as a Peach handmade jewelry. The bookstore will also offer special drinks for the event.
The Simply Kin Market will return to Highmark Plaza from 4-7:30 p.m., accompanied by the SIPS coffee truck.
Sycamore Sweets will feature live music from the Brothers Down and a pop-up from Goldie Jewelry Bar.
Visitors to the Blennerhassett Hotel may shop at the Hills and Hallows gift shop or view historic photographs displayed throughout the hotel's first-floor hallways.
The evening's main concert will take place at Bicentennial Park as part of the iHeart Summer Jam. A PODA bar and food service from Western Sizzlin will open at 6 p.m.
Country tribute band River City Rodeo will perform at 7 p.m., followed by Big Green Tractor at 8:45 p.m. Fluid Drive will perform later in the evening at the Speakeasy at the Blennerhassett Hotel.
Several downtown restaurants will also participate or remain open during the event. WineDown on Market will offer portable PODA drinks, while the recently reopened Parkersburg Brewing Company will partner with The Lost Anchor for food service.
Chams Lebanese Restaurant will be open until 7:30 p.m. Huffman's Prime Steakhouse will begin serving at 5 p.m., and the Blennerhassett Hotel will offer multiple dining and seating options.
Meet Me on Market scavenger hunt bingo cards will be available at the Parkersburg Art Center, SIPS coffee truck and First Chapter Bookstore. Completed cards may be returned to any of those locations for entry into a drawing for $50 in On Market Money, which may be used at participating downtown businesses and restaurants.
