Three people were killed in traffic accidents Saturday in the region, including a Newport man in Washington County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Tyler R. Auville, 34, Newport, was killed when the 1965 Ford Mustang he was driving went off State Route 7 in Ohio Township, struck an embankment and overturned, the Marietta Post said. Auville was extracted from the car and taken to Marietta Memorial Hospital Marietta Campus where he was later pronounced dead, the post said.
Auville was not wearing a setbelt and alcohol is suspected as a factor in the crash, the patrol said.
The crash remains under investigation, the post said. The accident happened shortly after 10:30 p.m.
Responding agencies were the Highway Patrol, the Newport Fire Department and EMS, Reno Fire Department and EMS, Washington County Coroner's Office and PCS towing.
In Gallia County, two people were killed in a six-vehicle crash on State Route 850 near mile post 1, the Gallipolis Post said.
Mischele L. Vanco, 49, Gallipolis, was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Malibu north on Route 850 where a 2025 Kawasaki motorcycle driven by Brandon C.L. Sias, 28, of Chesapeake, Ohio, and a 2025 Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven by Hunter R. Ferguson, 28, of Huntington, both going south, drove left of center and struck Vanco’s vehicle, the post said. A 2021 Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven by Cecil Ferguson, 58, also traveling south, was struck by Vanco’s vehicle after the initial impact spun her vehicle left of center, the post said.
A 2020 Harley Davidson being driven by Gavin R. Brumfield, 19, also going south, went off the right side of the road to avoid the crash and struck a ditch, the post said. A 2021 Harley Davidson being driven south by Terry Brumfield Sr., 63, was struck by debris as a result of the crash, the post said.
Sias and Ferguson were pronounced dead at the scene by the Gallia County Coroner and taken to the Willis Funeral Home, the post said. Minor injuries to the other drivers were reported by the post.
Other responding agencies included the Gallia County Sheriff’s Office, Springfield Township Volunteer Fire Department, Gallia County EMS, Gallia County Coroner’s Office, Willis Funeral Home and Red’s Rollen Garage, the post said.
