MARIETTA - Wicked Walkabout, the October First Friday celebration on Friday in Marietta, will be dedicated to the spooky season.
The celebration will be held from 5-9 p.m. and is hosted by Marietta Main Street, sponsored by Washington State College of Ohio.
Participating businesses and organizations in Marietta and at the Armory lawn on Front Street will have special attractions and deals.
At the Armory will be Artsbridge, the Betsey Mills Club, Gilman United Methodist Church, the U.S. Marines Corps, Living Democracy, Washington County Library, Waterview Pointe, the Washington County Board of Developmental Disabilities, Memorial Health System and Marietta College.
Dad's Primitive Workbench will continue its tradition of hosting the Sanderson Sisters from "Hocus Pocus" for a meet and greet in front of the store at 268 Front St. Shoppers also will receive a free gift when they spend $75 or more.
At Threadz Boutique on Front Street, Honey B Charcuterie will have complimentary samples to enjoy while shopping. American Flags and Poles on Front Street will offer an early holiday special with LED Christmas garden flags on sale for $18.
Teri Ann's on Front Street is celebrating a milestone anniversary and owner Teri Ann Zide said she is excited about the event.
"We are looking forward to October First Friday and continuing our storewide celebration of our 65th anniversary through Saturday," Zide said. "We are hosting a lovely artist, Shauna of H. Rietz Antiques, with beautiful fall wreaths."
At Wit & Whimzy on Front Street, Briar and Bloom will have fresh fall bouquets. Inside shoppers will find Halloween accessories, clearance items and flash sales.
Clutch Collective on Front Street will be open late with fresh items on the clearance table. First City Records on Front Street will have new and premium used vinyl collection dropping at 5 p.m. and visitors can get a sneak peek at the new First City Live event space.
Velvet from the Wellness Retreat will offer chair massages at Life Balance Healing, Front Street. Shoppers who spend $25 at J&M Books and Play on Front Street will be able to draw a treat to get a surprise discount.
Two Peas in a Pod Florist on Front Street will have free orange and black carnations while Emleigh's and Mama B's on Front Street will feature a sale rack along with new fall arrivals. River City Spaces, Front Street, will be filled with new fall décor and every purchase will be entered to win a $20 gift card.
Diners at Over the Moon Pub & Pizza, Front Street, can listen to live music with Crock & Cartmell from 6:30-9:30 p.m. The Pizza of the Month will be the Harvest Pizza.
The featured drink will be the Pumpkin White Russian at the Black Diamond Brewery on Front Street.
Downtown First Friday is held from 5-9 p.m. the first Friday of the month from February through December. Highlights include late shopping, artists and musicians, area organizations and activities tied into the theme.
