Milone Center for Academic and Career Success to open Friday at Marietta College

MARIETTA -- Marietta College will hold a grand opening for the Milone Center for Academic and Career Success from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, on the first floor of Legacy Library, according to a release from the college.
The event, "Unlock the Milone Center," is open to the campus and surrounding community. Visitors can explore the renovated space and learn about the academic and career resources available to students.
A gift from Mike and Julie Milone fully funded the $1 million project, which renovated the library's first floor to bring student support services together, according to the college.
The center connects students with academic success coaching, tutoring, accessibility services, career development, entrepreneurship, global and experiential education, library research support, the Speech Studio and the Writing Studio.
"The Milone Center brings to life a shared vision of intentionally connecting opportunities for academic engagement with career success," college President Kathleen Poorman Dougherty said. "As we celebrate the grand opening, we honor Mike and Julie Milone’s generosity and welcome our students into a beautiful space designed to help them build purposeful futures."
Features include the Information Commons, group study areas and dedicated interview rooms equipped for in-person and virtual conversations with employers and graduate schools. The center also expands access to library research resources, including scholarly articles, databases and books.
Jacqueline Khorassani, the center's executive director, said bringing the services together is intended to connect students' academic work with career preparation and opportunities to gain experience.
"By bringing these resources into a collaborative network, students can start anywhere and still get connected to the right support," Khorassani said in the release.
The grand opening will feature remarks from Dougherty, Khorassani and members of the center's team.
