CHARLESTON - A Parkersburg man has pleaded guilty in federal court for the Southern District of West Virginia to possession of a firearm by a person convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence.
According to court documents and statements made in court, Alphonso LeSean Johnson, 36, on April 8, 2025, possessed a Taurus model G3C 9mm pistol, United States Attorney Moore Capito said. Federal law prohibits a person convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence from possessing a firearm or ammunition.
Johnson knew he was prohibited from possessing a firearm because of his prior convictions for domestic violence against a female victim who had cohabitated with and who was similarly situated as a spouse in Marietta Municipal Court on Feb. 20, 2019, and for infliction of injury on a parent or child against K.D., with whom he shared a child in common, in Superior Court of California, County of Sacramento, on March 16, 2010, Capito said..
Johnson is scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 7 and faces a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison, up to three years of supervised release and a $250,000 fine.
Capito commended the investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Wood County Sheriff’s Office and the Parkersburg Police Department.
United States District Judge Joseph R. Goodwin presided over the hearing. Assistant United States Attorneys D. Keith Randolph and J.C. MacCallum are prosecuting the case.
The case is part of Operation Take Back America and Project Safe Neighborhoods.
