Promise Campaign golf outing raises $35,000

SISTERSVILLE, W.Va. -- Memorial Health Foundation's first Promise Campaign Golf Outing raised nearly $35,000 to support construction of a new Sistersville General Hospital.
The event, held Friday, Sept. 18, at Sistersville Country Club, brought together 15 teams of community members, local businesses and health system supporters for a four-person scramble, according to a news release from the foundation.
The Promise Campaign is a $12 million fundraising effort to help build the hospital and support its long-term operation, as well as Memorial Health System's clinics throughout Tyler County, according to the health system.
The new hospital is under construction and will replace the current 117-year-old facility. The project is intended to expand health care services for Tyler, Pleasants and Wetzel counties, the release said.
"The Promise Campaign Golf Outing is about enjoying a great day of golf, having some fun, and most importantly supporting the future of healthcare in our community," Jody Bullman, president of Sistersville General Hospital, said in the release.
The outing included on-course contests and a post-tournament gathering to award prizes to the top golfers. Sponsors and a dozen Memorial Health System volunteers supported the event.
