Washington County Career Center SkillsUSA elects officers

Washington County Career Center SkillsUSA recently elected its 2026-27 chapter officers. The Career Center representatives are:

· President McKinze Johnston is a junior from Marietta enrolled in the patient health care program. She is the daughter of Tiffany Johnston of Marietta;

· Vice President Cooper Gregory is a senior from Warren enrolled in the welding program. He is the son of Josh and Jana Gregory of Vincent;

· Secretary Abbigail Sparks is a junior from Belpre enrolled in the welding program. She is the daughter of Roger and Erica Wright of Belpre; and

· Treasurer Ryleigh Pryor is a senior from Marietta enrolled in the patient health care program. She is the daughter of Jeremy and Nicole Davis of Marietta.

SkillsUSA programs help to establish industry standards for job skill training in the lab and classroom and promote community service, according to a news release. It is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and is cited as a “successful model of employer-driven youth development training programs” by the U.S. Department of Labor. The Career Center chapter, part of a national organization, serves 13 vocational/technical programs: auto collision repair and refinishing, auto mechanics, building technology/carpentry, diesel truck mechanics, electricity, fire/EMS, heavy equipment, masonry, medical college prep, patient health care, pre-nursing, sports medicine and exercise science, and welding. There are approximately 424 Career Center student members.

Across the country, the organization serves nearly 250,000 high school and college students and professional members who are enrolled in training programs of trade, technical, skilled and service occupations.
