NEWPORT TWP. - A West Virginia woman died this morning following a single-vehicle crash on Ohio 7.
The accident happened at approximately 7:29 a.m. near milepost 42 in Newport Township, according to a release from the Ohio State Highway patrol.
The preliminary investigation indicates Brenda A. Goodfellow, 68, of New Martinsville was traveling south in a 2025 Cadillac XT6 SUV when it went off the right side of the road, struck an embankment and overturned, the release says.
Goodfellow was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
Along with the patrol, the Newport Volunteer Fire Department and EMS, the Washington County Coroner's Office and Shea Towing responded to the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
