Indictments include murder
A Warren Township man who allegedly shot and killed his father in a domestic dispute was one of more than three dozen people indicted this week by a Washington County Grand Jury.
Among the other 39 people indicted were two drivers who struck pedestrians, one of whom was charged with vehicular homicide for striking and killing a woman in Waterford Township.
Chace D. Wittekind, 20, of 1485 Hanna Road, was indicted for murder, an unscheduled felony.
“He shot and killed his father Delmar Wittekind on the 23rd of February,” said Washington County Assistant Prosecutor Kevin Rings.
Immediately after fatally shooting his father, Chace himself was shot by a juvenile in the home who had grabbed Delmar’s dropped gun.
Now in the Washington County Jail, Chace faces life in prison if convicted of the crime with no possibility of parole for 15 years.
Police had indicated the domestic dispute began when Chace hit his mother with the butt of a gun. The alleged assault started a fight between father and son.
Rings declined to elaborate on this chain of events, but said that Chace’s mother had been treated for injuries not related to gun shot wounds that same evening.

The woman, 52-year-old April Lewis, was pronounced dead en route to the hospital, said Schneider.

Watson failed to yield while turning left and hit a motorcyclist at Third and Butler streets in Marietta. The man had to drop out of Marietta College while he underwent rehabilitation for a severely broken leg.

Worstell’s probation officer went through Worstell’s phone in August and reportedly found a naked photo and a pornographic video of a juvenile girl on the phone.
“The sheriff’s office had initially thought they were going to be investigating a case of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor,” said Washington County Prosecutor Jim Schneider.
However, the girl with whom Worstell had been sexually involved was 16 at the time of the consensual relationship, making the relationship legal, although the media on Worstell’s phone was not.
Further investigation revealed Worstell had allegedly been providing the girl with benzodiazepine pills and marijuana, Schneider said.
– Worstell’s brother, 30-year-old Patrick Worstell, of 320 Browns Road, Marietta, was indicted on a third-degree felony count of tampering with evidence in an unrelated event.
