A 15-year-old injured while jumping onto the front of a moving vehicle Wednesday in Morgan County died from those injuries Friday.
According to a release from the Marietta post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the incident occurred about 8:17 p.m. Wednesday on Upper Douda Road near South River Road. The crash involved a 2008 Hyundai Elantra operated by Tanisha E. Viney, 18, of McConnelsville, who was driving westbound.
Investigators from the Ohio State Highway Patrol Investigative Services Unit determined the 15-year-old attempted to jump onto the front of the vehicle while it was in motion. The juvenile fell off the vehicle and was run over by the Hyundai.
Malta and McConnelsville EMS transported the juvenile to Genesis Medical Center in Zanesville. MedFlight later transported the teen to Nationwide Children’s Hospital. The juvenile died of injuries sustained from the crash on Friday. Viney was not injured.
Responding agencies include the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office and M&M Fire Department and EMS.
Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation by the Marietta post.
