After pleading guilty on Nov. 5 to one count of grand theft of a motor vehicle, David Metz was sentenced Tuesday morning to 30 days in jail and two years community control.

Metz, 57, of 873 Valley View Road, St. Marys, W.Va., was arrested in March 2019 after stealing a 1993 Mack truck from Carper Well Service.

“He was arrested in West Virginia with other charges on top of this one,” said Washington County Assistant Prosecutor David Silwani.

The joint recommended sentence was handed down by Washington County Common Pleas Judge Mark Kerenyi, who noted Metz would be given credit for time served.

“We believe he does have some credit. We think he may have seven to 10 days credit, I’m not sure,” said defense attorney Rolf Baumgartel.

Starting at $3.70/week.
