¯ A patrolman began an investigation Sept. 7 into a phone call to a victim, resulting in James Ryan Andrews being served a criminal complaint Rule 4 for bribery while incarcerated at Washington County Jail.
¯ A patrolman was dispatched Sept. 7 to J’s BBQ & Grill, 701 Pike St., in reference to a breaking and entering complaint. The suspect entered the business after hours and stole $594 and business checks from the cash register and filing cabinet.
¯ An officer began an investigation Sept. 8 in reference to a theft of a Stihl chainsaw from a city-owned vehicle.
¯ A patrolman responded Sept. 8 to 102 Dawes Circle in reference to a missing adult. The male subject was located later that day, he had been told by the complainant to leave, so he did.
¯ A patrolman was dispatched Sept. 9 to the Marietta Police Department in reference to a violation of a protection order. Officers made contact with the victim and an investigation into the matter was completed. No charges were found to be warranted from the incident.
¯ An officer was dispatched Sept. 9 to 728 Second St. in reference to a dog bite complaint. Upon arrival, contact was made with the victim and the owner of the animal. The case has been forwarded to the Washington County dog warden.
¯ A patrolman initiated an investigation Sept. 9 into graffiti on a metal map at Lookout Point.
¯ An officer responded to Walmart on Friday in reference to a theft complaint. After the investigation, it was determined that the suspect concealed multiple items and passed the last point of sale without paying for more than $400 worth of merchandise. It was also learned that the suspect had previously been trespassed for shoplifting. The suspect will be summoned for theft and trespassing through Marietta Municipal Court.
¯ An officer was dispatched Saturday to Walmart regarding two male shoplifters. The suspects attempted to take $517.62 in merchandise by failing to scan the items. The suspects fled the store without the items when confronted by employees.
¯ A patrolman was dispatched Monday to a two-vehicle non-injury accident. The patrolman arrested Nicole Oldfield with obstructing official business for providing false statements about who was driving the car during the accident.
Reports/Washington County
¯ A deputy responded Sept. 9 to 316 Weppler Road, Adams Township, in reference to Shirley Erb being attacked by the neighbor’s bull. It was reported that a family member received a call that Erb was attacked by a black bull and was being transported to the hospital.
When family arrived at the residence, the bull was standing over top of Erb. Garrett Alexander Scott, 27, 607 Coal Run Drive, Lowell, stated he did in fact own the bull and the other cow which was out of the fence. A summons is being requested for Scott on a charge of animals at large.
¯ A deputy was dispatched Sept. 9 to 260 Greenbrier Circle to a report of Kaleb Bennett’s American Bull Dog attacking Charles Warner’s Boxer. Warner stated Bennett ties his dog out during the day.
Warner stated he went for a walk with his Boxer and Bennett’s dog broke his chain and attacked the Boxer on Warner’s property.
Warner was able to separate the two dogs without injury and secure Bennett’s dog at his property. Warner did seek medical attention for his Boxer.
A summons is being requested for Kaleb M. Bennett, of 230 Greenbrier Circle, Marietta, on a charge of failure to restrain.
¯ A deputy began an investigation Friday into a dog bite in Newport. This case remains under investigation.
¯ A sergeant responded Friday to 20045 State Route 676, Warren Township, to a criminal mischief complaint. Kenneth Tullius II and James Hughey stated that Christina Garland was at the home and was in an argument with her husband.
Garland was leaving the property and opened a grill on the porch, removed all the meat product which was on the grill, and threw it on the porch and left the residence. Tullius and Hughey stated the meat, over $200 of brisket, was intended for a wedding reception this date that they were catering.
Later this date, deputies responded to the home for an unrelated matter. While the sergeant was there speaking with Garland, she did not deny or admit to the allegations, but stated it was a bad decision. A summons was requested for Christina Renee Garland, 55, on a charge of criminal mischief.
¯ A deputy responded Saturday to 100 Simpson St., Marietta Township, to a report of Justin Wolfe and Jessica Science assaulting Delbert Cain. Cain stated Wolfe and Science showed up and walked in the residence unannounced and uninvited.
Cain states they sat down and began arguing with him due to problems they blame Cain for. Cain asked the two to leave and Wolfe became irritated, stating they would talk then. Wolfe then got up from the couch and struck Cain multiple times in the head.
Cain again asked the two to leave several times. Science continued to yell at Cain while they were leaving, and threw a half empty tequila bottle at Cain, striking him in the leg. A warrant was requested and issued for Justin Edward Wolfe, 28, of 138 Harmar St., Marietta, and Jessica Ann Science, 33, last known address of 2504 Valley View Drive, Belpre, for aggravated burglary.
¯ An assault was reported to have occurred Saturday inside the Washington County Jail. An investigation revealed Anthony Doerfer got up from his bed, put on his shoes, and walked over to another bed. Doerfer approached Patrick Wilson-Eltringham and struck him.
Doerfer then leaned over Wilson-Eltringham, shoving him down towards the bed. Wilson-Eltringham lifted his left arm, attempting to shield himself from Doerfer, and Doerfer struck him again and then returned to bed.
Corrections officers responded and ordered Doerfer out of his bed. Doerfer got up and made an aggressive step towards a sergeant. Control of Doerfer was taken and attempts to place his hands behind his back were made, with Doerfer attempting to move past the sergeant, forcibly pushing him backwards. Doerfer continued to resist officers, but was eventually placed in handcuffs and removed from the dorm.
Anthony William Doerfer, 38, of 43820 Cook Road, Pomeroy, was charged with a felony assault and a misdemeanor assault.
¯ A deputy responded Saturday to Gantsville Road, Belpre Township, to a report of a violation of a temporary protection order. The protected party reported Joanna Tullius sitting in the grass across the street from her residence and in the neighbor’s yard beside her residence.
Tullius was yelling and cursing at the subject across the road. After completing the investigation a warrant was requested and issued for Joanna L. Tullius, 41, on a charge of violating a temporary protection order.
¯ A lieutenant began an investigation Saturday where Ryan Barrett’s property at 1405 Roddy Road, Fairfield Township, was entered and numerous items of value were stolen. This case remains under investigation.
¯ A deputy was dispatched Sept. 11 to Grandview Township to a report of Baxter Lee Grimes possibly stealing a wallet from a gentleman that had given him a ride from the Carpenter Bridge to New Matamoras. Grimes was reportedly dropped off and the driver then noticed a wallet missing from the center console.
The deputy accompanied the victim on the bike path that Grimes took after exiting the vehicle. The wallet was located however cash was missing. Charges for felony theft from an elderly person were filed on Grimes, 44, of 817 Grandview Ave., New Matamoras. Grimes was arrested Monday at his residence on these charges.
¯ A deputy began an investigation Sept. 11 into a breaking and entering at the storage buildings on Ohio 339, Waterford Township, where items of value were stolen. This case remains under investigation.
¯ A deputy began an investigation Sept. 11 into dog(s) running at large in Newport Township. This case remains under investigation.
¯ Deputies were dispatched Sept. 11 to a fight near the Warren Volunteer Fire Department, Warren Township. A Toyota Camry was located partially in the roadway and partially in the driveway of the WVFD.
Colten Pugh, Joseph Williams and a woman were located with the vehicle. Pugh had blood on his shirt, and Williams had blood on his nose. After speaking with all three individuals, it appeared Williams punched Pugh while he was driving, at which time Pugh stopped the car and got out and proceeded to engage in fighting Williams.
Pugh appeared to be under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol, with an odor of an alcoholic beverage on/or about his person, slurred speech and he was unsteady on his feet. Inside the vehicle were numerous cans of Twisted Tea, including one open in the center console.
Pugh admitted to driving the vehicle, and consuming alcohol that evening. Pugh was asked and agreed to perform standard field sobriety tests, which he did poorly on.
Colten Wyatt Pugh, 30, of 1110 Moody Ridge Road, Vincent, was placed under arrest for OVI and issued a citation for disorderly conduct.
Joseph L. Williams, 62, of 16069 State Route 550, Fleming, will be summoned into court on a charge of disorderly conduct by fighting.
¯ A sergeant was dispatched Sept. 12 to a Warren Township residence to a domestic disturbance. The call was received from a man, stating MacKenzie Nichole Vogt, had assaulted him. He stated that Vogt had been hitting him, smacking him and gouging his eyes.
He reported being dropped off by a female co-worker after work, which upset Vogt. He reported that Vogt became verbally assaultive while making accusations and then hit him in the head multiple times, scratching his arm, chest and neck.
Vogt is also accused of breaking his court-ordered Soberlink device by throwing it on the floor. Deputies spoke with Vogt, who appeared to be intoxicated, and was very argumentative and kept trying to defend her actions. After completing the investigation it was determined that MacKenzie Nichole Vogt, 26, of Marietta, would be arrested for domestic violence.
¯ A deputy began an investigation Sept. 12 into a breaking and entering at 2235 Hickman Road, Palmer Township. Items of value to include tools, were removed from the barn. This case remains under investigation.
¯ A deputy began an investigation Tuesday in Liberty Township in reference to item(s) being stolen off of a car. This case remains under investigation.
¯ A sergeant located Anthony Williams on Tuesday on Davis Avenue, Pioneer Township. Williams was advised that he failed to register with the Sheriff’s Office as required due to his conviction of gross sexual imposition in 2008.
Detectives had been looking for Williams after he failed to report before Aug. 26. Williams provided multiple excuses and admitted he was homeless.
Anthony Cameron Williams was placed under arrest and charged with failure to register change of address to the Sheriff’s Office.
Arrests/Washington County
The following individuals were recently processed into the Washington County Jail:
¯ Justin Lashawn Davis, 27, of Columbus, was arrested for aggravated possession of drugs, a felony.
¯ Anthony Cameron Williams, 48, of Lowell, was arrested for sex offender failure to notify change of address, a felony.
¯ Richard Dean Bailey, 65, of Marietta, was arrested for two counts of animals at large, both misdemeanors.
¯ Natasha Katherine Dunn, 32, of Bellaire, was arrested for driving under suspension, a misdemeanor.
¯ Jason Howard Feick, 46, of Belpre, was arrested for OVI and hit skip, both misdemeanors.
¯ Roger Lee Ward Jr., 43, of Lowell, was arrested for probation violation, a felony.
¯ Joshua Cecil Poole, 33, of Marietta, was arrested for possession of drugs and illegal conveyance of drugs of abuse into a detention or mental health facility, both felonies.
