VIENNA -- Ohio Valley University, a 63-year-old Christian University, in Vienna, has voted to close.
According to a report in The Christian Chronicle, the univeristy has informed students that spring 2022 classes will not be offered.
Michael Ross, president of OVU, said the university is working on a plan to help seniors finish their education at other schools, the report said.
Last week, the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission posted a Dec. 10 meeting agenda with a resolution urging revocation of OVU's authorization to confer degrees in the state, effective June 30, 2022. The resolution is scheduled to be considered this friday.
Last Friday, The Christian Chronicle wrote a story about the financial challenges OVU had been facing. It said payroll hadn't been met in months and debt has piled up, the report said.
