The notice of award and contract for phase two of the Devola sewer project were signed Thursday by the Washington County Commission, signifying a major milestone in the long awaited project.
The bid was awarded to RDR Utility Services Group for a little over $14 million, said Commission President Charlie Schilling.
To date, more than $17 million in funding has been earmarked for the project, all garnered within the last year, he noted.
"The contract documents contain milestone dates, with installation of all sanitary sewer mains completed within 260 working days of the notice to proceed, along with requiring completion of 280 homes by the end of 2023," he said. "The entire project is scheduled to be completed by mid-year 2024."
The Devola Electric Phase 2 project was awarded in May to Davis Pickering, who will start making contact with homeowners this week.
"(Davis Pickering) will schedule an evaluation of the residence's current electrical status and configuration," Schilling said, noting evaluations will start Monday.
The anticipated start date of the work will be in mid-June.
The contract states the electric work is to be done by October.
The sewer project milestone dates are Nov. 30, 2023, to have 90 percent of the pump stations finished, with final completion by mid-year 2024.
The hours of work will be Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
