Monroe County manufacturer announces $10M investment

HANNIBAL — American Heavy Plate Solutions LLC in Monroe County intends to invest $10 million and add 15 jobs at its facility in the Hannibal Industrial Park.

The plans were announced Wednesday by the company, JobsOhio, Ohio Southeast Economic Development and the Monroe County Port Authority.

The Port Authority leases more than 200,000 square feet of space at the park to American Heavy Plate Solutions, which was established in 2018 and employs approximately 130 people. The company produces steel plates and manufactures parts for multiple industries, including heavy equipment, oil and gas and automotive. It ships finished goods to more than 40 states.

The $10 million will go to purchase machinery and equipment designed to increase production throughput and expand the range of products the company can manufacture, according to a release from OhioSE and JobsOhio. The additional heat treat capacity will provide new growth opportunities for the company aside from its own manufactured products.

The 15 jobs are expected to be added over three years, the release said.

To facilitate the expansion, about 17,000 square feet of the roof at the Industrial Park will be repaired.

JobsOhio, a private nonprofit economic development corporation, supported the project with a $100,000 JobsOhio Revitalization Grant. Ohio Southeast Economic Development, the JobsOhio partner for a 25-county region, assisted the company with the grant process.

The Monroe County Port Authority will provide the additional funds needed for the roof repair project, the release said. American Heavy Plate Solutions is the largest tenant in the Hannibal Industrial Park, which is owned by the Port Authority.

The JobsOhio Revitalization Program offers loans and grants to bridge the financial gap between the appealing cost of brownfield sites and the cost of site redevelopment. This program is intended to mitigate financial risk and accelerate projects, returning land and buildings to productive use more efficiently.

“Along with our partners at JobsOhio, we welcome Heavy Plate Solutions’ continued growth in Hannibal, where it will add 15 new jobs,” OhioSE President Mike Jacoby said in the release. “Revitalizing Heavy Plate Solutions’ space at the Hannibal Industrial Park will ensure its steel plate production moves forward as the company continues to diversify its growing customer base.”

Starting at $2.99/week.
