Marietta College offering Wellness Week

2 min read

Marietta College is conducting Wellness Week, with events planned by the Center for Health and Wellness in collaboration with various campus departments and community partners to help students focus on different aspects of their well-being.

Monday's theme was academic and career wellness, with students encouraged to complete a digital passport to career success and take advantage of the Academic Resource Center -- and win prizes at the same time -- on the Christy Mall.

Financial Game Night was offered Tuesday in the Alma McDonough Auditorium, with participants brought on stage to answer financial planning/wellness trivia questions in a game show format.

With a focus on physical and social wellness, students are encouraged today to email the Center for Health and Wellness a selfie of themselves participating in a physical activity to be entered into a drawing to win a gift card. The Marietta & Belpre and Portsmouth City health departments will be set up on the Christy Mall to share information about women's health, immunizations for students studying abroad or going to graduate school and safe sexual behavior. At 7 p.m., Marietta Mindset will offer games and education on the importance of self-care with prizes and snacks in the Andrews Hall Great Room.

Thursday's topic is nutritional wellness. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., regional Parkhurst Dietician Alicia Koloski will prepare a hummus bar sampling with recipe cards in Gilman Dining Hall. Students can register to win a prize pack including wellness items, snacks and $25 in dining dollars.

The week closes out with a focus on mental wellness and Feel Good Friday from noon to 3 p.m. on Harrison Lawn, with a free Kona Ice. Award-winning motivational speaker Mike Veny will present a program on "Surviving College and Making Mental Health a Priority" at 3 p.m. at The Gathering Place, with raffle prizes and basket giveaways.
