March 21
Police responded to Gilman Street for a suicidal male. After contact, the subject was taken to Marietta Memorial Hospital for a mental evaluation.
Police were dispatched to a Colegate Drive residence for a report of an active domestic dispute. Upon arrival units made contact with the residents, who advised no domestic dispute had taken place and no evidence supported this claim. The reporting party was identified and it was learned that multiple false reports had been made from him about this address. Remains under investigation.
Police were dispatched to Maple Street for a DOA. Upon arrival units spoke with the victim's brother, who advised he was there to conduct a welfare check on his 41-year-old brother, who was found dead. The body was taken to the Montgomery County Coroner's Office. The case is under investigation.
Police were dispatched to Walmart for a theft. It was found that a female had not scanned 12 items valued at $82. A summons for theft will be submitted.
Police responded to an apartment on Front Street for a welfare check of a 71-year-old woman. Upon arrival, officers found her dead of apparent natural causes.
March 22
Police stopped a vehicle for multiple traffic violations. After criminal indicators were observed, a drug-sniffing K9 was requested. The dog hit on a positive indication on the vehicle. A subsequent probable cause search of the vehicle revealed a suspected meth pipe.
Police were dispatched to Wendy's on Muskingum Drive for three juveniles telling staff they were in fear due to their mother's intoxication level while having driven them there. Cortney Nicole Brooks, 32, was located and found to be intoxicated. She was arrested for two counts of endangering children and OVI. She was transported to Washington County Jail.
March 23
Police were dispatched to investigate a domestic violence report. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victim. Statements and evidence were collected and entered into a case file. A warrant will be prepared for the suspect for felony domestic violence. The victim's name and location are being withheld from reports for the victim's safety, until the suspect is located.
Police were dispatched to the Glenwood retirement community on Timberline Drive for an 80-year-old female found dead in her apartment. Upon arrival, officers made contact with staff members, along with next of kin. There were no signs of foul play and at this time the case is considered closed.
March 24
Washington County Children Services provided a case referral in regard to a recent intake involving juvenile sexual abuse.
Police responded to Walmart for a theft complaint. After investigation it was learned that Barbette Ann McCarty, 57, stole $53.92 worth of painting and home improvement items. She was charged with theft and released on a personal recognizance bond.
Police were dispatched to Walmart for a theft complaint. After investigation, it was learned a female shoplifter who was caught March 21 had stolen on 10 previous visits. Additional charges will be brought for those incidents.
March 25
Police investigated a city-owned tree falling on a vehicle in the 600 block of Fifth Street. The vehicle owner was contacted.
Police responded to Cisler Drive for a breaking and entering complaint. After investigation, it was learned that an unoccupied structure located on the property had been broken into. At this time the investigation is ongoing.
Police were dispatched to Walmart for a theft complaint. After investigation it was learned a male and female stole about $1,000 in sports cards from the store. The investigation is ongoing.
March 26
Police were dispatched to a fight at the Moose Lodge on Front Street. After investigation it was learned that an intoxicated male subject, identified as Nicholas A. Patton, 37, had grabbed a female by the throat over an argument about billiards. As a result, Patton was arrested for assault and taken to the Washington County Jail.
