Peoples Bank Theatre has released a schedule of free, outdoor, DORA-friendly First Friday events that will be held on Putnam Street in front of the theater.
According to a theater press release, there are no tickets needed in order to attend.
Lawn chairs are welcome. Performances start at 6 p.m. The outdoor entertainment project is supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts.
May 5, Of the Dell. Twin brothers Corey and Cody Hatton on guitar with drummer Jeff MCClelland. A power-pop small band with big sounds.
June 2, Joshua Lee and The Nice Dream. After 14 years of touring and life in Nashville, followed by a leave of absence from music entirely, Joshua Lee is back and now based in Marietta. He's performing solo and as a full band with The Nice Dream (Shane Henthorne, Justin Arthur, Dan Lee, Vinnie Mele, and Andy Hall) in the Mid-Ohio Valley region.
He's finishing work on his next project, to be released in the summer of 2023.
July 7, Sadie Johnson. Johnson is a singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, playing music from folk to funk and everything in between. She has a percussive, energetic guitar style coupled with soulful, powerful vocals.
Aug. 4, Patrick Sweany. The Nashville-based bluesman fuses elements of Americana and southern rock.
He rose to prominence in the late '90s and later formed The Patrick Sweany Band, featuring Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys among a revolving cast of musicians. He's played premiere festivals and supported international acts such as The Black Keys, The Tedeschi Trucks Band, Hot Tuna and others.
Sept. 1, The Troubadours. The group specializes in vintage rock n' roll from the '70s, but includes vintage tunes from other decades as well. The set list will include songs by The Rolling Stones, The Eagles, Peter Frampton, Hall and Oates, Bob Seger, Steve Miller Band, CCR, Jackson Browne, Steely Dan, Tom Petty and others.
Oct. 6, Oyo. American folk music, bluegrass, old-school country, and rock & roll are all part of Oyo's sound, which was born as a weekly jam session at the justAjar print shop in Marietta.
