The Castle to sponsor home tours starting next month

A tour of Marietta homes sponsored by The Castle will return next month.

After a hiatus caused by the pandemic, the Historic Tour of Homes presented by The Castle will be held May 27 and 28, starting at 10 a.m. and ending at 4 p.m. each day.

Participants will experience historic Marietta by touring homes in the first established settlement of the Northwest Territory. The tour will be of interest to collectors, architects, historians and photographers and to people who love old homes.

Homes featured on Saturday will be different than those scheduled Sunday.

Single-day tickets can be purchased for either Saturday or Sunday tours. With the purchase of a Weekend Pass, participants can visit all the homes listed for both days.

Saturday Homes are:

– The Castle Historic House Museum, 418 Fourth Street

– Watson Home, 317 Muskingum Drive

– Baker Home, 1205 Glendale Road

– Rehl Home, 610 Front St.

– Westbrock Home, 429 Fourth St.

– Criss Home, 524 Third St.

Sunday Homes Include:

– Schultz-Parsons Home, 304 Washington St.

– McCormick Home, 306 Washington St.

– Steinhagen Home, 601 Wooster St.

– McMahon Home, 629 Third St.

– Schlicher Home, 410 Fourth St.

Tickets will be available only through The Castle's website, at The Castle's Carriage House during operating hours prior to the event and 9-4 p.m. each day of the tour at The Castle's Carriage House.

Tickets can not be purchased from the homes on the tour.

Prices are $20 for single day and $35 for both days

The Castle, built in 1855, offers tours, educational opportunities and programs. Tours are available starting in April and many history-related events throughout the year. Events include historical mock trials, food history, archaeology, summer camps, school and scout education, cemetery tours, teas and luncheons, wedding and facility rental.
