Marietta Rotary Club awards 10 scholarships to graduating seniors

Marietta Rotary Club awarded 10 scholarships of $2,000 each to graduating high school seniors, the organization announced Tuesday.

In order to be eligible for the scholarship, applicant must meet:

¯ Will earn or already has earned a high school diploma or GED

¯ Show commitment to community service

¯ Demonstrate financial need

¯ Have a record of academic performance (No specific grade point average)

¯ Have an education goal that includes a college or technical degree or certification

The winners of the scholarships are:

¯ Payton Alloway, Warren High School

¯ Kaitlyn Lipscomb, Fort Frye High School

¯ Gwyneth Rauch, Fort Frye High School

¯ Olivia Huck, Marietta High School

¯ Jamison Schmidt, Frontier High School

¯ Clara Pettit, Warren High School

¯ Brookelyn Reynolds, Williamstown High School

¯ Tessa Hafner, Warren High School

¯ Brianna Winsett, Williamstown High School

Winner of the Bill and Joe Wesel Memorial Scholarship, created in memory of two long time Rotary Club members, is Keegan Bills, Marietta High School.

Winners were chosen among applicants from Marietta High School, Fort Frye High School, Frontier High School, Warren High School and Waterford High School in Washington County, Ohio; Williamstown Middle/High School in Williamstown, W.Va.; and private schools Veritas High School in Marietta plus Wood County Christian High School in Williamstown and Parkersburg Catholic High School in Parkersburg.
