ATHENS -- One person was killed and two others injured in an accident Friday afternoon on U.S. 33 near Ohio 664 in Hocking County, the Athens Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.
Dylan Lang, 23, New Lexington, Ohio, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Hocking County Coroner's Office.
Lang was a front-seat passenger in a 2018 Nissan Versa driven west on U.S. 33 by Jayden Edwards, 20, Somerset, Ohio, that collided with a 2022 Ford F-450 parked facing west off of the right shoulder of U.S. 33 and occupied by Johnathon Smeeks, 48, Coolville, the patrol said.
Jayden Edwards and Elliot Edwards, 23, New Straitsville, Ohio, a passenger in the rear seat, were seriously injured and were flown by medical helicopters to Grant Medical Center, the patrol said.
Smeeks was treated for minor injuries and was released from the scene, the patrol said.
The 2018 Nissan drove outside of the right lane striking the parked Ford F-450 in the rear, the patrol said.
The patrol was assisted by Hocking County EMS, Logan Fire Department, MedFlight, Air Evac, the Ohio Department of Transportation, the Hocking County Sheriff's Office and the Hocking County Coroner's Office.
The crash remains under investigation, the patrol said. The accident happed around 5:45 p.m. Friday.
