2 min read

The Songwriter's Series at the Lafayette Hotel Friday at 8 p.m. will present award-winning songwriter R.J. Cowdery and local musicians John A. Walsh and Michael "Moon" Mullen in a songwriter-in-the-round format.

Cowdery, a Belpre native, has been sharing her original songs across the U.S. for decades, according to a press release. She has won multiple national awards at the Kerrville Folk Festival, Rocky Mountain Folk Festival, Mountain Stage New Song Festival, Sisters Folk Festival and others.

Vienna's John A. Walsh is a journeyman songwriter and accomplished guitarist who has been performing for more than four decades. He recently released an original song cycle, "The Fields of Gettysburg," that met wide critical acclaim and was featured on NPR's Mountain Stage, the press release said. Walsh's show provides an easy and inviting vibe that promises to be an enjoyable musical experience.

Moon Mullen, who produces the Songwriter's Series, has been an entertainer for more than half a century.

"This in-the-round format is big fun! With a great variety of songs and stories from passionate players," he said.

Admission to the May 5 session is $10 cash or $12 credit card for tickets available at the front desk or on the Eventbrite website, eventbrite.com.
