2 min read

On May 4 and 5 the Warren FFA attended the Ohio FFA State Convention in Columbus with 35 FFA members.

While at the Convention the chapter was recognized on stage during each session. During the first session Warren had member Ryace Boyer walk across the stage for the Charitable Giving Recognition. This honor is given to each chapter in Ohio that donates over $500 back to its community.

At the next session the chapter watched State Proficiency Finalist Launa Ireland, in the Equine Science – Entrepreneurship Category, earning a third place on stage. The chapter was also recognized as a Gold Rated Chapter, for its outstanding service within the community, chapter, and leadership. We are among the top 10% FFA Chapters in the State of Ohio!

The evening session on Thursday, May 4, the chapter cheered on member Haley Grace Bolden for her proficiency in Outdoor Recreation where she placed second in the state. Tessa Haffner placed second in the area of Organic Agriculture, she also was named the State Champion in the area of Speciality Crop Production! On Friday, May 5, the chapter had three chapter officers receive gold ratings at the State Level and walk across the stage. Congratulations to members: Launa Ireland/Trent Hamrick -- Reporter, Christopher Burdiss -- Treasurer, and Sophie Gilliland -- Secretary.

That afternoon members enjoyed Top Golf before heading back for the final session. At the last session of the 95th Ohio FFA Convention there was record breaking attendance.

Warren had 7 State FFA Degree recipients walk across the stage as a result of their hard work. The State Degree requires 25 hours of community service, $2,500 earned and invested in a Supervised Agricultural Experience, and eight FFA activities above the chapter level. Congratulations to Christopher Burdiss, Trent Hamrick, Morgan Hamrick, Sophie Gilliland, Colten Gilliland, Devin Cook and Steven Anderson

The Warren FFA had a very successful State Convention and is looking forward to continued success within the program.
