BELPRE -- The runner-up from the 2022 season of "American Idol" will headline the 91st Belpre Homecoming in August.
"We are so excited to have HunterGirl as our featured act on Saturday, Aug. 5," Homecoming President Amanda Wires said in a recent press release.
HunterGirl finished second behind 2022 "Idol" winner Noah Thompson and went on tour with him. The duo returned to the show in April to perform a duet version of Thompson's "One Day Tonight."
HunterGirl began performing at the age of 3 and started writing songs at 9. The winner of the 2014 Texaco Country Showdown, she moved to Nashville after graduating from high school and started playing gigs at a number of famous venues.
"Idol" judge and country star Luke Bryan described HunterGril as his "favorite female country voice" and a "new age Miranda Lambert." Her post-"Idol" song releases include "Hometown Out of Me" and "Lonely Outta You."
The 91st Belpre Homecoming is slated for Aug. 3-5 at Civitan Park.
Previously announced performers include contemporary Christian artist Hannah Kerr at 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, sponsored by Rockland United Methodist Church, and "Hot Blooded: A Foreigner Tribute" taking the stage at 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4, sponsored by First Mutual Bank.
Saturday, Aug. 5, features Kids' Day activities such as a puppy pageant, kiddie tractor pull, fishing derby and pageant, before HunterGirl performs at 8:30 p.m., followed by fireworks at 10 p.m.
"What an honor to have another 'American Idol' contestant perform at the Belpre Homecoming," Wires said.
"American Idol" finalist Bucky Covington took the stage at Civitan Park in 2007 and again in 2017.
