Frontier Alumni Association awards two graduates

NEW MATAMORAS — Two seniors from Frontier High School have been awarded scholarships from the Frontier Alumni Association 1969-1990.

Jamison Schmidt and Lukas S. Reed each will receive $500.

Schmidt is the daughter of Janetta and Johnny Schmidt of New Matamoras. She was accepted by Ohio Dominican University at Columbus in its Public Relations and Publishing Program.

Her goal is to receive a bachelor’s in Public Relations and Publishing and become a marketing consultant for Children’s Hospital in Columbus. Her ultimate goal is to become a marketing director.

Reed is the son of Jennifer and Ronnie Reed of Dart. He was accepted at Washington State Community College where his goal is to receive an associate’s in applied science.

His dream is to become an electrical engineer.

The scholarships were presented by Jeff Beaver, president of the association, at the 19th annual Frontier High School Senior Awards Program on May 21.

The Alumni Association plans to award two more scholarships in the 2023-2024 school year. Students who will be seniors for 2023-2024 can contact high school guidance counselor Holly Cunningham, a 1990 alumna, for an application or additional information.
