¯ Deputy Derkin responded to Wesley Township to a report of items missing from the residence. .
¯ While on patrol on State Route 60, Muskingum Township, Deputy Peters observed a vehicle operating on the road way above the posted speed limit. The speed was confirmed at 60 mph in a posted 45 mph zone. A traffic stop was conducted with Andrew Parker Grose. Grose, 103 Social Row, Marietta, issued a citation for speed.
June 16
¯ Deputy Windland responded to Barlow Township to a report of a stolen chainsaw and other items.
¯ Deputy Davis was patrolling State Route 7 near Ayers Blvd, Dunham Township, when he conducted a registration check on a vehicle. The check revealed the plates expired in January 2023. A traffic stop was conducted with Hannah Furbe, 133 Mount Vernon Drive, Washington, W.Va., and a citation was issued for driving with expired registration.
June 17
¯ Sgt. Painter was patrolling State Route 7, Belpre Township, when he observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. The speed was confirmed at 80 mph in a posted 60 mph zone. A traffic stop was made with Andrew B. Farrell, 121 Thompson Court, Winchester, Va., and a citation for speed was issued.
¯ Deputy Windland was dispatched to Gantsville Road, Belpre Township, to a report of a verbal argument between two subjects. Rachel Culver told Deputy Windland of a syringe and spoon with suspected residue in the home, which did not belong to her. When asked in reference to any other drugs or drug paraphernalia in the residence, Culver stated she was in possession of marijuana for personal use without a prescription. Culver obtained the jar of marijuana, cigarettes, THC oil and container. These items were taken as evidence. A summons is being requested for Rachel L. Culver, 39, 518 Grantsville Road, Little Hocking, for possession of drugs.
¯ Deputy Windland responded to Lane Road, Dunham Township, in reference to a report of $600 in fishing gear stolen from a truck. While speaking with Howard McLaughlin, who stated he had nothing to do with the fishing gear and knew nothing about it, information was obtained that McLaughlin had removed the property and hid it. The items were retrieved from the woods and returned to the victim. Howard C. McLaughlin, 55, 540 King Avenue, Cutler, will be summoned to Marietta Municipal Court on a charge of obstructing official business.
¯ Deputy Young responded to Par Mar, Marietta Township, in reference to alcohol being shoplifted from the store. The subject committing the act was identified from video footage. On June 18 Par Mar Marietta Township again reported the same type incident. The same individual was observed on video. A summons will be requested through Juvenile Court on a charge of theft.
¯ Deputy Ullom was on patrol in Belpre Township when a check was conducted on a vehicle with a possible expired registration. Dispatch confirmed the expired registration and a traffic stop was conducted. David M. Mowery, 333 Old School Lane, Fleming, was issued a citation for expired registration.
¯ Deputy Davis arrested Sarah Kay Shannon, 44, 90 Stanley Street, Newport, on an outstanding warrant for probation violation out of Tyler County, W.Va. A charge of fugitive from justice was filed on Shannon and she was transported to the Washington County Jail.

¯ Deputy Davis investigated a dog bite incident in Warren Township.
June 19
¯ Deputy Schwendeman met with Frontier Local School District representatives in reference to the theft of an Echo weed-eater from Newport Elementary School. The weed eater had been left outside the loading dock and it was discovered to be missing. A review of camera footage revealed the theft occurred on June 11 and a silver car was seen pulling up to the dock and a male subject, identified as John Addlesburger, was observed exiting the vehicle, obtaining the weed eater and placing it in the vehicle. Deputy Schwendeman proceeded to New Matamoras to speak with Addlesburger, but he would not come to the door. A summons is being requested for Addlesburger, 49, 406 Vine St., New Matamoras, on a charge of theft.
June 20
¯ Deputy Thornberry was dispatched to Barlow Township, Dollar General, Ohio 550 in reference to a theft of groceries totaling more than $150.
¯ Lt. Brown, along with other deputies, was dispatched to 28640 Ohio 7, Marietta Township, to a report that David Matthew Loftus had run into the woods. It was believed he was avoiding transportation to a facility. Numerous neighbors had observed Loftus on their property. A K9 was utilized to track Loftus to a very dense tree line bordering the property where he was located. The Reno VFD squad was dispatched to the area for medical treatment. Loftus told deputies he was going to take enough methamphetamine that could kill someone, until a friend stopped him. Loftus, 33, 923 Delia Ave., Akron, was placed under arrest and charged with disorderly conduct.
June 21
¯ Deputy Windland responded to a Fairfield Township residence to a report of McKenzie Cowman breaking things, throwing items at her mother and lighting a mattress on fire. Cowman had struck her mother in the left arm and threatened to kill her. Cowman had come home, laid down for a second and approached her mother, stating, "I'm only going to tell you one more time, if you don't get away from him, you're going down." Deputy Windland met with Cowman, who was acting sporadically and not making sense. McKenzie Ann Cowman, 30, was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Jail, charged with domestic violence.
¯ Deputy Peters spoke with an Adams Township resident who is living out of state at this time. The subject wished to report a Ford Edge, that was stolen around May 26.
¯ Deputy Painter was dispatched to MIE, Warren Township, to a report that a former employee had stolen items. MIE had video showing Charles Burton entering the business and stealing parts and products from the business. Burton had been let go from the business on June 8 and had no reason to be at the business. Investigation revealed that Burton had entered the business on June 15, 16, 18 and 19 after business hours. It was determined that Burton had cut parts off of engines and removed bulk oil from the business. A total at that time was listed at approximately $4,500. A warrant was requested for Charles J. Burton, 40, 804 Hocking Road, Belpre, on a charge of breaking and entering (four counts) and theft (three counts). June 23 Burton was arrested on the warrant and processed into the Washington County Jail. July 5 deputies responded to Burton's Hocking Road residence to serve a search warrant at that location. A bucket of oil was previously observed at the residence while Deputy Painter was looking for Burton. On July 5 the bucket had been painted to conceal the source, but Burton denied the bucket was stolen or that he had tried to conceal it. Burton was placed under arrest and charged with tampering with evidence. Burton was processed at the Washington County Jail.
¯ Deputy Harlow responded to Salster Road, Warren Township, for a domestic violence incident. It was determined that Charity Dye had confronted a resident of the home, scratching him using her fingernails and throwing cooked food and water at him. Deputies met with Charity Rebecca Dye, 51, and she was placed under arrest and charged with domestic violence. Dye was taken to the Washington County Jail for processing.
June 22
¯ Sgt. Parks was dispatched to Beach Drive and Ohio Avenue, Belpre Township, about an accident at that location by a subject who was possibly impaired. Sgt. Parks assisted the Ohio State Highway Patrol in the investigation.
June 23
¯ Deputy Eichhorn observed a small sedan traveling north on Ohio 60, Muskingum Township, with a broken front windshield. The vehicle was observed committing numerous violations. A traffic stop was conducted and contact was made with the occupants. While speaking with all passengers, Kenneth Bailey, who was seated on the back passenger side, gave consent along with the other passengers to search the vehicle. A black wallet was located beside Bailey, who stated it was his. When asked if it was okay to search the wallet, Bailey confirmed that it was. Inside the wallet was a clear plastic baggie containing 7.91 grams of a white crystalline substance, consistent with methamphetamines. As the item was retrieved from the wallet, Bailey stated he forgot it was in there and stated that it was his meth. Kenneth Earl Bailey, 59, homeless, was arrested and taken to the Washington County Jail for possession of drugs.
June 24
¯ Deputy Schwendeman began an investigation into telecommunications harassment.
¯ Deputy Eichhorn observed a sedan bearing W.Va. registration traveling on Sandhill Road, Marietta Township, with a broken windshield. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was found to be Brianna Bland. A strong odor of marijuana was coming from the vehicle and there was what appeared to be a marijuana joint on the floorboard. The driver and a passenger, Kayla Bland, were asked to exit the vehicle. A search produced a clear baggie containing .83 grams of a white powdery substance consistent with heroin. Brianna stated it was her baggie, however she denied it was a controlled substance. Brianna was placed under arrest at that time and she told Deputy Eichhorn that she had drugs in her groin area, which she retrieved. The rolled up foil was found to contain 12.97 grams of a white crystalline substance, which Brianna advised was "meth." A glass smoking device also was located, found in the vicinity of the front passenger seat where Kayla was seated. Brianna M. Bland, 28, 2305 Sandhill Road, Apt. 3, Marietta, was charged with two counts of possession of drugs and Kayla Christine Bland, 36, 2305 Sandhill Road, Apt. 3, Marietta, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Both Kayla and Brianna Bland were taken to the Washington County Jail.
June 25
¯ Deputy Thornberry responded to the BP at 66 Arrowhead Drive in Belpre Township. It was reported that a subject was riding his motorcycle on June 24 with friends when his bike broke down. He stated he left the bike there and removed the battery and key. Upon returning on June 25 the motorcycle, a 2004 Kawasaki, was missing.
¯ While patrolling Market Street, Pioneer Township, Deputy Peters observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation. A traffic stop was conducted and contact was made with the driver, Evette Miller, and passenger, Anna Jones. When asked if there was anything illegal in the vehicle, both Miller and Jones stated no. Deputy Peters deployed K9 Timmy and conducted a free air sniff around the vehicle. K9 Timmy indicated on the passenger door. A search of the vehicle yielded 0.39 grams of suspected methamphetamine in Miller's purse. As Jones was removing items from her pocket, 0.26 grams of suspected methamphetamine fell from her pocket onto the ground. Anna Denise Jones, 58, 118 Harmar St., Marietta, was placed under arrest and charged with possession of drugs. Evette Meshelle Miller, 45, 1308 Williamson Ave., New Matamoras, was placed under arrest and charged with possession of drugs. Both Jones and Miller were taken to the Washington County Jail. Once there, Jones was found to have 0.42 grams of suspected methamphetamine on her person inside the jail.
¯ Deputy Eichhorn observed a silver Dodge Charger bearing Florida registration traveling southbound around the 3-mile marker of I-77, Marietta Township. Numerous traffic violations were observed and a traffic stop was initiated. The driver, Linsey D. Beaumont, 601 Patton Blvd., Plano, Texas, said she did not have a valid driver's license. It was confirmed her license was suspended through Kentucky. Beaumont was issued a citation for driving under suspension.
¯ While patrolling River Road at Devols Dam Road, Muskingum Township, Deputy Wallace observed a red sedan running a stop sign. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, Cassidy Courtney, 3686 Ohio 60, Marietta, was issued a citation for failing to stop at a stop sign.
June 26
¯ Deputy Norris began an investigation in Grandview Township regarding items removed from a vacant home.
¯ Deputy Davis began an investigation in Dunham Township regarding items stolen from a vehicle while it was parked at the Veto Lake boat ramp. Unauthorized purchases were later made with the debit/credit card.
¯ At 3:53 a.m., Deputy Wallace was dispatched to the area of Fifth Street in Adams Township about a report of a male subject on a front porch, kicking the door and screaming. While the deputy was en route, dispatch received another call that the male was screaming from the middle of the roadway, and that disturbance was heard by the dispatcher. Deputies located Joshua Lee Theiss outside a residence. Theiss was found to be extremely intoxicated and causing public inconvenience. Joshua Lee Theiss, 31, 314 Fifth St., Lowell, was placed under arrest and taken to the Washington County Jail. He was charged with inducing panic and disorderly conduct. A portable breath test was administered, with the results being .202.
¯ Sgt. Painter responded to Dollar General at 2301 Ohio 555, Wesley Township, about a theft of merchandise. Video footage revealed two individuals known by store personnel stealing from the self-checkout. Cynthia Davis and Allen Surry were observed placing items into a bag and back into the cart without scanning them, as well as intermittently scanning items. The items scanned and paid for were valued at $20.50 and the items identified as not being paid for were valued at $89.47. A summons through Marietta Municipal Court is being requested for Allen Edward Sully, 62, and Cynthia Anne Davis, 48, 150 Dixon Road, Cutler, on a charge of theft.
