CAMBRIDGE -- The 53rd Salt Fork Arts and Crafts Festival will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Cambridge City Park.
Artists, entertainers, Appalachian heritage arts demonstrations, Ohio-made food and concessions are planned.
Artists from around the country display and sell their work at the juried festival. Only items that are hand-made by the artists are accepted.
Returning artists include Wayne Dyer, Russ Shaffer, Lisa McGinty and Beth Lewin.
Dyer makes detailed, handcrafted wooden vehicles. Shaffer does embossed engraving on paper he makes, then carves the subjects for a three-dimensional effect. McGinty's paintings use color, lines in motion and humor to inspire hope. Lewin creates functional pottery mugs, plates and pitchers.
Votes will be taken for the People's Choice Awards.
Performers include the Loves Gospel Quartet, Cambridge City Band and the Muskingum Symphonic Winds, Open Highway Bluegrass, Swing's the Thing and Baranich, Gable and Lee. Shows are in the Big Pavilion.
Artisans will work in the Appalachian Heritage Arts Tent. Chuck Fair will be at the potters' wheel to create bowls and mugs. Spinners Sue Sherby and Bill Sichina will change wool into thread. Blacksmith Eli Wilson will work over an open fire.
Artwork from children in kindergarten through 12th grade will be on display in the Student Art Tent. More than 450 pieces will be on exhibit.
Children can create at the Craft Pavilion. A kids' Chalk Art Contest will be held Saturday.
Among food vendors will be Rock Dawgs with a variety of hot dog treats, Good Olde Days Ice Cream and Buckeye Concessions with lemonade. At the Big Pavilion will be J.C. Concessions, Burger Brothers and Tasty Indonesia, among others.
The Marketplace will feature Ohio-made products, snacks or something to take home to remember the festival. Participating will be Candy's Gourmet Fudge and Baked Goods, Copley's Honey and Shirley's Sweet Perfections.
