Picture this: Foundation Day 2023
Blennerhassett Island Historic State Park welcomed hundreds of visitors Saturday for Foundation Day, an event celebrating the park’s 41-year partnership with the Blennerhassett Historical Foundation. Activities included a visit by the Ohio Village Muffins for an 1860s-style, bare-handed “base ball” game. Players wore uniforms and used equipment and rules from the period for the game, played on the front lawn of the park’s historic mansion.

That partnership built and furnished the island mansion and museum over the years. The Foundation is undertaking a strategic plan, feasibility study and master plan for the future development of the island. Chemours owns Blennerhassett Island and leases it to the state for $1 a year.
