Boil water advisory issued Thursday affecting 150 to 200 connections

A boil water advisory from the City of Marietta Water Treatment and Distribution Department was issued Thursday morning for the areas of Cole-Coffman to 900 Lancaster St., Sunnyhill Drive, Gates, Nelson Avenue, Lincoln Circle, Pershing, Kingman, Wyoming, Cheyenne, Laramie, Edgewood and adjacent areas.

The advisory affects approximately 150 to 200 service connections.

Water customers in those areas could have experienced a loss of water service or pressure. They are advised to bring water to a rapid boil for two minutes following restoration of water service, to provide safe water for drinking purposes.

Once bacterial testing confirms the water is safe, customers will be notified the boil water advisory is canceled. The information will be released through local media, City of Marietta web page and Facebook, and Washington County Emergency Alert System.

All affected water service locations have been or will be flushed by water distribution repair workers to reestablish a safe water supply. All customers should flush their own services through the cold water lines only, until the water is clear.

Starting at $2.99/week.
