BELPRE -- Memorial Health System's Belpre Cancer Center will present MammoFest, a breast cancer screening and education event for Mid-Ohio Valley residents, from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 14.
Registration for general attendance needs to be completed before Oct. 8 at mhsystem.org/MammoFest.
The program's purpose is to provide breast health education, free breast exams and other resources to help area residents embrace early detection and lifesaving knowledge. Breast health experts Rajendra Bhati, MD, and Jane Kessler, RN, OCN, CN-BN, Oncology Breast Health Navigator, will help emphasize ways to stay healthy and detect problems as early as possible to prevent breast disease.
"Prevention and screening are essential to ensuring quality outcomes and patient care," surgical oncologist Bhati said in a press release. "I think it is a priority, and central to our mission of the Belpre Cancer Center that we prevent patients from even having to see us as patients and arm them with the knowledge and ability to avoid hearing the words: 'you have cancer.'"
Memorial Health System also will be providing 24 free mammograms for those who are 40 years of age and older and are underinsured or uninsured. Additional registration is required to schedule a free mammogram, in order to provide necessary medical information to a team member of Memorial Health System.
