The Mid-Ohio Valley Players will host a free workshop for youth and will hold auditions for its Youth Players show, "A Christmas Carol."
The single-day free workshop will be held 9-noon Sept. 16 in the theater auditorium and is intended for youth 8 to 18 who are new to the theater or who want to work on their theater skills.
Registration will open at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 16. A link registration is available at midohiovalleyplayers.com.
Participants will learn basic stage direction, choreography and improv. Kids will try their newly learned skills through acting in brief scenes. No experience is necessary.
Auditions for "A Christmas Carol" will be held 7 p.m. Sept. 17, 18 and 19 in the theater auditorium for youth in sixth through 12th grades.
Performances are on Dec. 8, 9 and 10. Anyone interested in auditioning should bring a schedule of other activities including sports, clubs, choir and band concerts that may conflict with rehearsals or show dates.
This Charles Dickens' classic adapted by Susan Boyer is the tale of Ebeneezer Scrooge, a mean miser who hates Christmas. When Scrooge is visited by the ghost of his late business partner, Jacob Marley, Marley tells him he will be visited by three ghosts: the Ghost of Christmas Past, the Ghost of Christmas Present and the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come.
With the help of these spirits, Scrooge learns the true meaning of Christmas.
The show is directed by J.R. Wells and Susan Boyer.
