Apple Butter Stir Off slated for this weekend

BELPRE -- The 45th annual Belpre Lions Club Apple Butter Stir Off will be 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in Civitan Park.

The event is the club's biggest service project, aimed at bringing the community together to enjoy friends, food and entertainment. A variety of crafters and vendors will be set up, and the Pioneer Presbyterian Church will once again be handling the traditional apple butter stirring.

The finished product will be available for sale in quarts and pints. Some will be prepared in advance and some will be stirred during the event by volunteers. Visitors of all ages can also take a turn stirring, organizers said.

Admission to the festival is free. There will be inflatables and children's crafts.

The schedule of activities includes;

SATURDAY

¯ 11-11:15 a.m.: Opening ceremony -- welcome

¯ 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Jerry and Lisa Queen

¯ 1:30-2 p.m.: Dog Pageant Registration

¯ 2-3:50 p.m.: Dog Pageant

¯ 3:50-4 p.m.: ABSO Doggie of the Year

¯ 4-5:30 p.m.: Levi and Hannah Westfall

SUNDAY

¯ 11-11:30 a.m.: Welcome -- Color Guard, Pledge, Song, Prayer, Mayor's Welcome

¯ Noon-1:30 p.m.: The Smith Family

¯ 2-2:30 p.m.: Belpre Marching Band

¯ 2:30-4 p.m.; To be determined

¯ 4-5:30 p.m.: Gypsy River Band

¯ 6 p.m.: Closing
